Diversifying revenue base away from AdSense

My AdSense eCPM is plummeting. On other webmaster forums there is speculation that due to the bad economy Google is increasing its share of the revenue it keeps (unlike other ad networks the big G does not disclose what share it gives to publishers).

I need to find alternative sources of income. Some might say just find relevant affiliate programs. but I own a lot of sites that are essentially just general entertainment sites. Stuff like arcades, celebs, etc. So unfortunately there's no ebook I can sell..

Any ideas?

if your sites are getting traffic, just put up banners to your affiliate products
 
same here... i'm about to create ads for various AM products in place of adsense. though, i still think adsense would outperform any those...
 
i havent used kontera but ive read from a couple trusted sources that it provides some additional revenue while not cannibalizing either adsense or your own affilate banner links

personally my adsense eCPM is down 30% over the last week, which is fucking lame.
 
how many clicks per day are you guys getting?

i've consistently been getting about 500/day. last week i set a record for one-day earnings and the next day i made less than half as much even though my impressions and click thru rate was the same. adsense is really starting to frustrate me
 
that shit is happening to me too @transistor. Have you been noticing a pattern where you have a great day then the next day (with the same ammount of traffic) it plummets? somthing is up.....

yep.. i thought that was just me being punished for having a good day

i keep having to make more and more sites to keep up with the declining eCPM i'm getting. at least if we ever come out of the recession and eCPM goes back up, i'll be making a shit ton.
 
Just look at what other people are advertising through your Adsense units, copy their ads and replace them with your affiliate links.

Lol. I've never really considered making a dime with Adsense. But I thought it was a 50/50% split with Google across the board. You mean, they don't tell you the %?!!!! That's as Fucked as what they do to us who make some treasure in Adwords.

That's just insane. Google is the Roman Empire right before the fall, imo.

I dont know how the landscape will change, but you can't do business the way google does and get away with is. It WILL have ramifications.
 
you can find out what % google is paying by looking at their public earnings statements. It has been as high as 80% and as low as mid 60's.
 
the thing is adsense can be better than parking..but it's like going from slavery to indenture servitude...
