Ok so basically I just saw this movie called the Horse Boy...

(Plot + Spoiler below)

For those of you that haven't seen it or heard of it, it's basically the story of this kid born with autism. His parents take him to a bunch of different doctors but no one is really able to help him. Long story short, his parents (who happen to be very spiritual people) decide to take him to see shamans in northern Mongolia. They land in Ulaan Baatar, hire an English speaking guide, and after days of traveling in pure wilderness they finally get to the shaman "headquarters"... this shaman does some rituals on him for like a day... and the kid's condition immediately starts to improve. He doesn't completely heal, but his symptoms are gone and he can pretty much function as a normal boy from that point. Pretty amazing shit! His parents couldn't believe it. Now it could be just a coincidence or the fact that he's been breathing fresh air that healed him... but highly unlikely if you ask me. Who fucking knows anyways...

My question is do you believe in this stuff? Do you think some people have some kind of healing powers? Have you experienced this first hand (or someone close to you)?

And for the scientists out there, how the fuck do you explain this? :eatmousepointer:

Never experienced shamanic / healing powers first hand so can't say much there, but yes I have heard of some stories.

Natural remedies - yes, strongly believe in them. Go with the nature, you are much less likely to lose. I don't take any pharma shit unless the sky is falling.

There is a natural remedy for a lot of illnesses / disorders, but rarely do they get any mass advertising or detailed studies because they don't yield huge profits.

Natural remedies are slowly being banned in a lot of places.

I believe eastern Medicine can have some positive effects, I think some of the positive effects are grossly overstated and I think the mass hysteria of people saying it's completely bullshit is also overstated.

If I had cancer, I wouldn't try to combat it with herbs and vitamins - but if I get a bacterial infection I generally don't take antibiotics straight away.

My aunt is a naturopath and she was the one that worked out that I have an allergy to milk, whilst 3-4 other doctors had no clue what was causing my symptoms.

Get a bunch of shaman together and see if they outperform charlatan shaman by more than 10%.

It's all BS. I live in the 3rd world and these BS scam artists are dime a dozen.

They all do it for money. People are just so ignorant and dumb. SMH

Coincidence. 50,000 desparate families try to get cancer, autism, tumors, etcetera cured by going to shamans. One of them spontaneously recovers, as suspected by chance. They misattributed the cause of the recovery to the hocus pocus they desparately clinged to in a last ditch effort for hope. Someone makes a movie to make money.
