Not very experienced in CPA.

I know building a list is an ebook thing. Just wondered if the 'real' affiliate marketers felt building a list is an important thing?

Cheers

Umm... can somebody explain me what are 'real' affiliate marketers? You mean that is building a list of your customers important? Of course no. What made you think that?

of course it's important. ever seen a functional business that doesn't keep a list of their customers?

Micfire, I wouldn't recommend setting your user title to 'Banned.' I did that and I lost customers buying my database who thought I was banned (hence my current title). :D

Good point.. I just bought something here, but haven't got reply yet so maybe that's the reason ;)

I mean for something like say a ringtone offer, or a mortgage offer, do you build a list before you show them the offers, or what...

I know the ebook route. Find niche - build list - send offers.

what kind of list are you talking about? List of keywords? List of possible clients? List of places to spam? List of unicorns and fairies?

What lists?

I'd say that it really depends on the product ioksane. For example, if I was promoting the blockbuster total access, I probably wouldn't build a list, because if they're going to sign up for it they'll most likely do it from the landing page, and they can only sign up once so it won't do much good to blast people with the same offer all the time.

If I was promoting payday loans though, people who get one payday loan usually fall into the trap of borrowing money more than once. It'd be nice to be able to blast a list of proven borrowers with a payday offer a couple of times a month.

So, you're going to get the same answer as you would with a million other questions. It depends on the niche. Test stuff out and see what works for you.

I have never built an email list for any of my sites, but will be starting one very soon, but it will not be for CPA offers though.

Some people build email lists and then others don't. I guess you should do what you think would be the best to do.

as others have pointed out it does really depend on what you are promoting...but ultimately if you aren't building an email list in some fashion then you are losing out on potential income

I think it depends just how far you want to go in Affiliate Marketing. I am quite new to this as well but from the bit of research I've done it seems that all the "Big Guns" have huge opt-in lists and they all agree 'the money is in the list'. There is loads of list building software around but it takes time to build. Once you have your own list then you can email them with whatever you are promoting.

These Gurus know what works and what doesn't but they all seem to agree that your own list is is a definite "must-have". So-Go for it.
