Homeless Man's Top 3 Priorities 2012.

1. Alcohol
2. Prevent negative SEO
3. Food

maybe you guys have an entirely different definition for negative SEO, but to me it's when someone tries to lower other peoples sites instead of using the links to move their site up.

now if you're talking about maintaining a good reputation online.. that's when yourname.com (.org,.net,.info) comes in handy.

I don't own my actual name; but I do own a pseudonym that I publish books under. It's great for testing social media traffic and learning interlinking and and other stuff.

It really sucks when you look for your name and find that it's parked by someone who has an entire portfolio of people's names all at 500 a piece.

I only own the .co just cuz I like .co's for some reason. Seems I'm in the minority.

I also use a pseudonym. Always wondered how many people did this, and to what extent they used it.

Do you get a discount for domain renewals? If not do you know what it takes? I have 30 domains with them and I started a chat with them asking for a coupon code which doesn't expire that I can use for domain renewals and new registrations and they just gave me the crappy coupon code of the month.

yes, you have to have at least 50 domains in NameCheap. The discount code is "GOLDDEAL" but you have to have at least 50+ domains and then have them activate the code for your account.

domain renewals are $8.81 for me.

I unfortunately do not own myname.com because it was registered in 1995 before I knew shit about domain names. I graduated from college in 1996 and went to work for an online adult entertainment company in Vancouver and STILL didn't get the whole domain name thing for a few years after that. I'm still kicking myself to this day. I would happily pay a few grand to acquire it.

Currently the are several $7.99 renewal coupons ($8.49 with ICANN fees) for GoDaddy and it doesn't matter how many you own. Up until a few months ago there were several $7.49 coupons.

I'm sure whoever owns that domain would be happy to sell it to you for a few grand.

I would like to own my own myname.com but unfortunately my name is quite common and all popular extensions are taken.
Im surprised to hear that so many have managed to get theirs.

As someone that shares his name with both a very successful rapper, and the 2nd founder of the KKK, no, I don't own my name.com unfortunately. On the positive side, that does mean anyone wanting to negative SEO me would have a fairly difficult job.

This... several well-known people share my name. It's both a boon and a curse.

Thanks but while I know you're a big proponent of GoDaddy, I personally can't stand them.

A few being less than 5 figures. I'm pretty sure that whoever owns it understand just how many corporations exist out there with that name. I wouldn't let it go for less than 6 figures if I owned it.

At least you didn't label me a fanboi ;) They're not perfect, but they've never done me wrong.

Own firstnamelastname.com, but now thinking should get lastname.com, and then perhaps the .net and .org variants for both as well. $60ish a year for the lot isn't exactly going to break the bank.
