Does a Google Slap affect your Organic Traffic?

Just wondering if you get slapped with ridiculously high bids if that would affect my Organic Traffic? I was thinking of adding some polls to a site of mine but don't want to mess with my organic traffic if I get slapped.

I was actually thinking the SEO that I've done would help my campaign from NOT being slapped as fast... you know inbound links, real site, etc....

what about the other way round? if i get a domain banned by google will that affect my quality score?
