A client of mine's site can't send email from the site domain without it going straight to spam to most mail boxes. Any idea what would cause this? Tried talking to my host and can't figure out what might be causing this at all. Site is a small company. My best guess was someone was spamming from her site before I took over it, any other possibilities or any way to troubleshoot this?

Just changing hosts would probably be the easiest way.
no this would not work. it would only change the ip but if the domain is blacklisted useless to change ips.

probably the domain was used for spam prior to you taking it over. meaning you got a blacklisted domain.

what you would want to do is to manually request removal of your domain from sbls/blacklisting. I have a tool that checks what blacklists your domains are on pm your domain i can check for you.

another possible reason is the server is compromised and it sends spam as we speak. check the mail logs (or ask the host to check it for you)

Who said it was the domain that's blocked?

I also have a client (legit) who's email always ends up to my junk folder, I wondered why and it turns out he tends to send out a huge number of emails so many people flag him as "spam" that makes his email address end up as spam in my Hotmail account as well.

Has your client been emailing a lot? Might be just worth for him to use another email maybe.
