Download and Convert Video

I'm sick of trying to find free software that will rip and convert video from a website. I don't mean just YouTube videos, I mean any embedded videos but including YouTube.

Everything free I've found either sucks, doesn't work or is online based and times out 75% of the time.

It needs to be able to convert from most filetypes (including FLV) to most other filetypes (Including WMV). I'm willing to throw down a few bucks to get this problem out of my hair but GEEEEEZ does it exist?

HELLLLLLLPPPPPPP I'm so tired of dealing with this crap.

Since most of the sites that allow video upload use FFMPEG to downsample the movie when converting to FLV (Flash video), you won't likely want to reconvert it, it'll look like shit.

Besides, just download the FLV and play in a player that supports FLV.

super works great for most file types...only fucks up on very few

(you have to navigate a ridiculous maze of pages to find the actual download link. obviously they make money off the adsense since the program is free. just keep looking towards the bottom to find the next page to go to.)

direct linking does no good...they check the referrer

Video Lan for the win when it comes to playing any file...
If you get the URL, and load it into VLAN, it even has a Sav As option
