One of the things I can't stand when I see some websites, is a lack of contrast between the font color of certain text, and the background the text is on.

Here is a prime example:
X Industry Jobs

As you can see on the navigation, they're using white text against a mid-gray color. This is a *huge* no for *any* text. You want to provide for *maximum* contrast, or at least NEAR maximum contrast - especially when it involves something so important like a navigation.

So for your background, this most often generally means you're either going to want to use either a lighter color or a darker color - and then the opposite of course would apply to the text color on top of it.

For those of you who have sites that might have similar cases like that xindustryjobs.com site, I suggest you change it immediately - you'll see your conversions go up if you're selling something.
