I think we need another drug thread. It probably wouldn't look good to sticky a thread on drugs, but it would be nice to have a nice long thread to reference. Most actual drug forums are full of real shit advice.

Right now my problem is I want to make cannabutter, but I've found like 5-6 different methods online and all are different. I don't want to try and make it following the directions of a totally wrong method and waste my money.

Some say to only 30 minutes will do others say 24 hours. Some example pictures are brown some are green. Does anyone know first hand how to make some pretty potent stuff. I'm also very interested in how much weight per stick of butter.

I call this a THC BALL.

Grind up buds 1/4 oz or more

Place in jar of isopropyl rubbing alcohol strongest you can get at the grocery store I think 97%

Shake ground up tree and alcohol vigorously for 10-25 min

Use a metal strainer with a relatively fine screen

Strain the alcohol from the bud

Place the alcohol in a glass baking dish

Place baking dish on electric pancake griddle (must do this outside in a ventilated area, the fumes will KILL YOU) DONT USE ANY FLAMES AROUND this operation!!!

Turn the electric on ONLY as high as it needs to be until you see white vapor rising out of the baking dish. Monitor this closely. Don't crank the heat up past the amount it needs. Don't want to burn up your THC.

When there is very very little alcohol left in the dish you must take it off right away. You don't want to burn the THC away.

Place dish in sink or something of cold water to cool it down immediately when the time is right.

Put it in the sun or something for a little while let the last of the alcohol evaporate completely.

Scrap the dark green/black resin out of the dish. Smoke enjoy.

The more tree you use the better quality the more potent your end result will be.

I have done this myself a few times so this is coming from experience. It works perfect you can get some gupe that makes you feel like your on some pills your so high.

Also one time I strained the buds from the alcohol and then ran the alcohol thru a coffee filter.

The result was that it removed alot of the fine bud material. I was able to fill and clear a bong hit that normally 4 people could hit off one fill. I could take the whole thing myself and hold it until I was like blacking out because it doesn't hurt your lungs AT ALL! pretty crazy! (ONLY when you strain it thru a coffee filter)

Do that to about 10-20 grams of Hydro buds. Smoke it all between you and a few people. You all will feel like your drunk. Get SUPER MAN HIGH.

both of those should work... I would go with the second one since it is easier, which means less of a chance to fuck it up... and make a smaller batch first just in case you don't like it...

good cannabutter should always be green like the second one... the first one may be brown due to the guy using some low quality shitty weed... there is some crappy brown mexican brick out there, so maybe that's what he used and that's why it's brown...

the better quality herb you use to start with, the better finished product you will have...

another tip... try to avoid using plastic containers in the process... resins tend to stick to plastics, so you'll lose more good stuff if you use plastic containers... better to stick to glass or ceramic containers...
 
I dug up the recipe from the old OverGrow FAQ... seems more similar to the first one you posted...

I have listed a recipe for a large batch, using up to a pound of trimmings. The quality of the finished products is related to the quality of your material used. You can divide the recipe according to how much material available or use this ratio:

1 ounce cannabis
8 ounce butter
16 ounce water

Cannabutter

1/2 to 1 pound of cannabis
5 pounds butter
cheesecloth
thick rubber bands
tall plastic containers with lids
4 gallon cooking pot

Place butter, cannabis in your pot. Fill with water to several inches of the brim. Cover, slightly cracked and bring to a boil over medium heat. Lower heat to simmer and cook for 6 to 8 hours, stirring occasionally. remove from heat and allow to cool until you can safely handle the pot easily. Stretch cheesecloth over the plastic containers and secure tightly with rubber bands. Ladle the mixture, onto the cheesecloth until each container is filled several inches from the top. Remove cheesecloth and tightly squeeze the remaining liquid from the strained matter. Place the containers in your freezer on a level surface for at least 6 hours. The butter will solidify and some of the water will turn to ice. Take off the lid, and with one hand supporting the ice block, turn container upside down and release. Some water will come pouring out, and the ice just needs to be scraped away from the butter block. You should be left with a round slab of light green butter. It can be stored in the refrigerator or frozen for long term storage. You can use cannabutter just as you would regular butter in any recipe. Hold on tight...

I'm just going to give it a whirl, I'm only trying to make a small batch so if I mess up it won't be too bad. It seems hard to mess up, but hard to get just right. And I want it to be pretty good.
