Dumb Ace Politics

Not a big fan of political discussions, but this is just stupid - regardless of affiliation:

White House Tours Halted Over Cuts; Congress Says, ‘We’re Open’

WASHINGTON — The Obama administration told members of Congress on Tuesday that it was canceling all White House tours beginning on Saturday because of the $85 billion in across-the-board spending cuts that went into effect last week.

Constituents who want to visit the White House must go through their representatives to schedule a tour, so Congressional offices will be forced to turn away visitors hoping for a tour and contact others to cancel scheduled tours.

I'm reading this to say the White House can't handle the huge expense of self-guided tours any longer thanks to those naughty Republicans.

Since you have to call Congress to schedule a tour, now people can complain to Congress about it, effectively playing sour grapes. I know there are a lot of people of less than average intelligence (roughly 50 percent ), but is this really anything but transparent and childish to all but the very dumbest? Way to play patriotism politics - A lot of 8th graders on school field trips are going to be drumming the streets over this come Spring Break!

$85 billion is about 2% of the feral budget. All this crying over 2%. Imagine what will happen when they have to cut 10% or more? Paper money to the moon! Gold FTW, bitches!

I am sure that the tour guides were responsible for at least 1/3rd of our national deficit. It's about time.

Ironically, I'm sure even the liberals at NY Times are calling foul on this one because they make a point of mentioning that the tours are "self-guided" meaning you just check out earphones or whatever.

Damn earbuds running up the deficits!

Quick edit - I notice that the version of the article I'm reading now fails to mention the self-guided part. The first one I read a couple of hours ago did. Gotta love politics!

It has nothing to do with the expense. It's all about threatening to take something away that some might actually care about (I don't). If they were talking about removing or reducing funding for the pedophiles at the TSA, no one would complain. Most people are so uninformed that they fall for these tactics. The government has a lot of room to cut its budget without people noticing any negative impact on their daily life.
