Well, my mom purchased an e-commerce site through smcorp.com, if you have never heard of that its something called SMC and they have these catalogues you can order a bunch of stuff out of for wholesale and resale it for supposed up to 300% profit. She has already sold some things in the 'real world' for a pretty nice profit, she bought 500$ worth of stuff and made about 1250$ at a flea market... Well anyway, I saw that she had done this and didnt know anything about promoting it... I know a few tricks that I learned here, maybe 500 tricks or so... Basically her site she purchased is a site that has a 'shopping cart' and you run around the site looking for what you want to buy... I dont really know what sort of things you can buy from them... But they do the shipping and stuff all by themselves with your company name, (dropshipping I think they call it) all you have to do is approve the sales, which is an aspect I find not very appealing, I think sales should be approved by themselves...
(A few tricks I am referring to is...
1) Registering with Linkshare etc to have others promote the site for us and offer a pretty nice commision to them.
2) Advertise ourselves on many online ad networks
3) Advertise in the real world, locally, using a bumper sticker on our vehicle, and a spot in the classified ads perhaps...
4) Backlinking, partnerships and stuff.
5) SEO for the site, etc...
)
But my main question is, should I help her promote it? Is it a lost cause? CAN it be turned into something moderately successful? (In other words something that atleast earns back what she spent on it, which is like 400$ + 30$ hosting a month (which is insanely high to me for hosting, but w/e)...
What are some problems I might encounter?
Thanks, cya.
