Starting March 31st, listings that contain content that can be digitally downloaded or transferred must be listed in the Classified Ad Format in the Everything Else>Information Products category only. All listings for digital items outside of that category will be considered a policy violation."

Suppose they will just stick em on a disc and mail it.

With an immediate download option. Would seem smart to mail it anyways to have a shipping address and delivery signature to fight any chargebacks.

Good for Ebay

I am very happy with this change in policy. Hopefully all the crap now be in one place.

Uh, yay eBay ... note that this also includes:

websites

domains

Services such as graphics, design, etc.

ebooks that aren't about making money ie. 99.99% of all ebooks

Digital music, video etc.

Wow, yes, awesome, "fuck teh ebook gheys." Go big E.

I have a friend who makes a small income selling tons of domains on eBay. He usually has 100+ listed at a time. He will be pissed.

Just remembered something: What about selling a 'single piece of paper' but including the domain / digital item as a 'free gift' included with purchase...

It's an idea :P

I'm sure that workarounds will surface Matt, including that one. Lots of digital info providers are putting a positive spin on this, in that they can just drop everything onto a CD and charge more anyway. It doesn't change the fact that eBay lumping in all digital deliverables into a single hogogenous category for policy purposes is absurd.

Jon

What is it about music, video, graphic design, websites and ebooks that aren't about making money that pissed you off? I mean, why does it matter only for domains?

My guess is he makes money off of domains and not off of music, video, graphic design, websites and ebooks...well maybe ebooks.

AT first I didn't believe this because no one was linking back to eBay or a reputable media outlet with the story, but it's cropping up everywhere, so it probably has some truth to it.

I'm in the "about bloody time" boat.
So sick of seeing pirated material on eBay cluttering up listings for items that are totally different from what the stuff is... Or those stupid "lists of wholesalers for X".
I don't need a list of wholesalers! Wholesalers don't sell individual units! I just want a single, goddam X, and I want it without having to set up another account!

But yeah, I'd also like to see eBooks off eBay as well.
If they're not pirated, why can't you get a real damn site, or sell it through Amazon, lazy twats?
