I realize that the general consensus on this forum is that all money making ebooks suck.

I've read several (didn't pay for them), such as rich jerk, day job killer, ect, and yeah, I'd agree, they're all pretty much rehashed bullshit.

I was looking at Barnes and Noble yesterday to see if there where any books on internet marketing. The only one I found is "Internet Marketing For Dummies", I decided to pass on that one.

Most of you probably don't know this, but I was a semi successful poker player for a couple of years before the ban. I paid $39.99 for a very good book on strategy, and the information in that book probably made me $40k+ over the time frame that I put it into practice.

I'm looking for a resource with similar value. Forums like this are great. Blogs like the earnersblog.com are great. But I'm wondering if there are any comprehensive ebooks on the subject that actually provide useful information and are actually worth the price?

Thanks,

-Scott

Another question, anyone heard of or use swapclix? I've got the link to his download page, but even after reading the sales pitch I have no idea what the hell the software is supposed to do.

Swapclix describes ppc arbitage. Something that you can find tons of information on for free here. (Disclaimer: I've not bought or read it but a quick search for a review showed this "Swapclix is a really simple concept where you place small ads on the internet for as little as 5 cents...when people click on those ads...they go to your webpage where you get paid 25 cents and up ($1 is not uncommon) when they click on ads that are on your page.")

But I'm wondering if there are any comprehensive ebooks on the subject that actually provide useful information and are actually worth the price?

Scott not all internet marketing eBooks out their are garbage, but 99% of them are......the problem with finding a good eBook on internet marketing is the high quality of scams out their, if you buy or download one your almost gaurenteed to be reading the same thing over and over again.

One of the biggest things that has helped me is reading a few offline books, even if their as old as 2003, if you don't want to spend any money swing by your local library and pick up a few marketing books no older then 2003, now the info in a 2003 book will still have internet related shit in it but it will be outdated, the only reason why I say you can still read that info is because it still helps spark some really good ideas, and some things are still relevant.

I suggest stay away from any eBook on internet marketing or marketing in general unless its free and is given a high rating by the people you know, the information in a hard copy, offline book will be 10000 times more useful to you to read rather then an online eBook, even if you've got to spend 30 or 60 bucks on a hard cover book its well worth the price.

Remember any older books will have outdated content, the industry just moves too fast to publish current up to date trends but like I said the overall point is their and the marketing aspect is still their, and it will spark ideas and you'll learn things you previously didn't know.

One thing that I do if I am even considering looking at an ebook, when I used to read some of them is the refund rate. If it actually has something of use in it, it ought to be lower on the refund %, like 8 or lower. Books like DJK, etc, are at like 15%+, so you can tell that they suck.

What are you trying to learn? Affiliate marketing? marketing your own product? PPC, Adsense, SEO?

I've bought and read a lot of ebooks and just about everything can be found in forums like this.

Swapclix is garbage. Its using adsense on landing pages in adwords. Thats basically it. Most of these ebooks talk about different ways of marketing on adwords.

If you want a real book with value Perry Marshalls book "Ultimate guide to google adwords". Bought mine at B & N. Also available on Amazon.

Before you spend ANY money on an affiliate marketing ebook, check out Ken Evoy's free ebook, "The Affiliate's Masters Course"

http://aff-masters.sitesell.com/AffMasters.pdf

It's an excellent read for newbies (165 pgs)

Also, as another poster already mentioned, I recommend reading anything by Perry Marshall for your Adwords knowledge. For $16, the "Ultimate Guide to Adwords" is a must read for anyone getting started (the Definitive Guide to Adwords $49, is an ebook by Perry that goes more indepth on the topic)

The Ultimate Guide to Google AdWords - Perry Marshall & Bryan Todd

If you are looking for a forum that is specifically geared toward learning about affiliate marketing I highly recommend Wealthy Affiliate. It's $30 a month membership and is loaded with tools to help you succeed. It is owned and operated by 2 individuals and you can PM them anytime for questions or help with your affiliate marketing. There are currently around 3,400 members and has been growing steadily every day. I've been a member for 3-months now and have really been impressed with the knowledge that is passed around in the forums. I truly think it's a great resource and plug it in my signature (I've yet to read any bad comments from anyone that has become a member) You can sign-up for their free affiliate guide/newsletter to see what they are all about.

Try Jeremy Palmer Great support forum for anyone that buys the book.

Yeah, Jeremy Palmer's ebook is another good resource and is the only one I didn't return when I first started out. A great intro to affiliate marketing and Jeremy actively answers questions in the private forum.

To be honest I'm trying to learn as much about all of these as possible. I'm not plugging my blog, but I go into detail in it on different ways that I've failed and succeeded online so far.

Right now I'm concentrating on PPC and affiliate sales. I'm also looking into bum marketing methods, and I'm just now realizing how much I really need to be concentrating on SEO.

Product creation is another thing I've been thinking about, not ebooks, but membership content type of sites.

Really, I'm just trying to find my place in this business as of right now. I'm smart enough to learn, and I have the work ethic to follow through, so I'm really just trying to explore every revenue stream possible at the moment, and hopefully figure out what works for me and follow through with it.

Thanks for the suggestions guys, I have a lot of reading to do.

Thats cool. I would suggest that you focus on one thing at a time and don't spread yourself too thin. Bum marketing/article marketing is good for learning research, and making a few bucks to start off with if you're low on money, however, its pretty slow pace (unless you outsource the article writing).

If you have money, I would start out using PPC, but just make sure that you research markets first.

How come no one has mentioned Holly Mann, or Honest Riches?

Would like to start out by saying I am so glad I found this forum. It seems like every other internet marketing / money-making forum on the Internet is full of fake reviews with affiliate links. Thank goodness for a real deal one like this.

Anyways, I was wondering what everyone thought of Holly Mann, and her "Honest Riches 2" ebook. I know most everyone on here hates the whole ebook thing, but wanted to see if anyone had a copy or had a chance to read through it. Her marketing I must say is genius though; she rags on the rich jerk. One of her sites in fact is 'thankyourichjerk.com'.

Hopefully Jon if you are reading this you can help us out. I know you said on your blog that if someone found an ebook that you would buy it, return it, and post it somewhere (or at least summarize it).

Thanks for your replies.

Holly Mann who???

So I take it no one on here has heard of Holly Mann, or "Honest Riches 2"??

Ok, just checking. I was wondering if there was any new information in it at all.

Never heard of it but it's only $37 .... just buy it and return it. Or purchase it under your own affiliate link for 50% off.

Why don't you download some of the free ebooks Jon has links too?

Oh, I have, trust me.

Before they where posted here, I just used the ol' trusty google search:

"rapidshare.com/files" _whatever I'm looking for_

to find them. Just like Jon and everyone else says, they're 99% bs.

I'm not a pro, but I can smell a self promoting scam fuck a mile away.

I was just asking if any of the successful marketers here have anything they'd recommend. Because in almost every other aspect of my life besides internet marketing, there are books out there that can literally make or break you in any given industry.

I'm sure there are some out there on this subject. I'll just take the replies here and work from there.
