Email 25k or Banner Advert?

This might seem like a dumb question.

I have two options: (I'm selling a product)

1.) One time email to a site's 25k strong newsletter from the admin's p.o.v
2.) 1-2 month Front page banner ad on the same site

Which would you chose and why?

My choice is currently leaning towards the email. Although the banner ad
might get a steady stream of clients, the email might give a quick surge of
sales.

Depends how much traffic the front page of the site receives :/

I'd tend to say go for the newsletter, especially if it's an editorial review/recommendation by the admin and not an ad "only", but it's really little information to judge properly.
