In this guide I will be writing ways to market your website, products and brand using web 2.0 platforms and emailing list.

Email marketing is one of the most cheapest and effective ways of online marketing if you have a well segmented user base. With a well segmented user base you can get really high conversion rates and probably the best ROI.

In order to get started with Email marketing you will need to have a good email list system or script.

I personally use Aweber and so does other well known Affiliates.

Why do I use Aweber?

• They are industry leaders in the email marketing management. It is being used by over 100,000 email marketers.
• It offers easy to use and customizable forms with unlimited fields
• Every click can be tracked
• The forms can be customized to your site
• Has built in auto responder
• Manage unlimited email campaigns
• You will be given a lot of email templates or you can make your own
• Their email delivering system is WHITELISTED (this means it won’t be counted as spam by a lot of email servers)
• Provides Free customer support
• Easy shopping cart integration
• And more…..

Enough about Aweber. Let’s get to the point.

After creating an account with Aweber or your preferred service. Create few mailing list for each group. Make sure it is well segmented. The way I do my segmenting is by having different landing page for different groups. For example, I did an email campaign for Video Game Rentals and sale of video games and for this campaign I segmented the list according to the game genre i.e. action, shooter, fighting, simulation etc.

Now with a segmented list I was able target my campaigns really well. For the each group I only sent them email related to their genre. For example for Shooter genre I only sent them shooter game genre related news and offers with the best prices to some of the games and discount vouchers which were of course linked to my affiliate link.

What to have in the email?

• The content is very important part of your email. If it is not good content the readers will mark your email as spam or will unsubscribe from the email. For the content have a leading story which is targeted towards the readers. (Make sure the story is simple and has a nice image related to the story.)
• Have 3 of four other stories with small thumbnails relating to the stories and have a link to the full story. So have a 2 line intro and “read more” link.
• Below the stories have a comment from one of the stories in quotation and have a link to it by using “reply to comment”
• Below that have 3 thumbnails of the product range you are promoting and you can offer a good discount, link them to the merchants product page.

Sidebar

I would recommend you to have a sidebar in your newsletter template. In the newsletter template have the following:

• Have a headshot of yourself and make sure the image is blended with the background color.
• Create a facebook group in your niche and have a link to joining that group. E.g. <small logo> Join niche group on facebook
• Create a twitter page and have link to the twitter page.
• If your site has a forum then have a link to the forum.
• Link to the blog
• Have thumbnails of vide reviews or video tips which should be hosted on your site.
• Have a small banner (square) and on top of the banner state it as a “sponsor”

Now the above should increase your readership to your emails, it should increase your income and at the same time increase your page impressions. It is a 3 fold benefit to you and your site. Conversions, Traffic and Readership.

Remember you should be creating a brand around your email newsletters.

I have attached a basic template that I use for my email marketing for video games.

The next guide I will be producing will be Guide to Landing Pages 2.0 and for this guide and more you can register for free at my free guides website.

I will also provide free landing pages to registered users.

Know what... maybe it's just me. But I find this post SPAMMY!

Bullshit! Email marketing is costly... and conversions won't start pouring in unless months of investment, optimization and hard-work have been burnt in.

You suggested some ideas up there that, according to you, increase readership, but you haven't given one point suggesting WHY?! For eg. Posting a headshot of myself, in an email i send out will increase my readership? Why would that happen? The same applies to all your other points!

In my experience with mailing, things seem to be quite the opposite. Emails are emails, Websites are websites. Let the sidebar and all the other peppy stuff be restricted to your websites. Most web-based mailing solutions (Yahoo, Gmail, aol etc.) & even application based inboxes like Thunderbird, in my experience, have images disabled on default. So this leaves little space for your Headshots and the likes. The first thing they're seeing is your text and that is what matters.

Even if you're sending out a flier, have an alt-text that urges your users to load images in order to see the flier.

Mailing is all about split-testing, catchy subject lines, Call-to-actions, email analytics, personalization etc. and having assorted lists is a necessity and not a "tip" as you have portrayed it. Again, it depends on what the mails are about - Campaigns, CTA based mailing, Newsletters, updates etc. Also, it requires a lot of time before leads start pouring in. Again sites like aweber are not good for volumes as skrilla mentioned in one of his other posts.

This is my experience so part with mailing and I don't even consider myself a pro-mailer yet. I am sure I maybe wrong at many places and I am sure there are more experienced folks around who'd be more than willing to correct me.

IMO, this post is advertising and advertising is not allowed on WF without a consent from Jon. So loading your posts with 4 links to your Aweber affiliate link and then advertising your site and asking people to sign-up won't get you anywhere. Atleast not on Wickedfire.

not much experience in mailing but agree with the above : to call it "cheapest" is borderline spammy-ebook-marketing. perhaps you're referring to mailing to an opt-in list that you already own via your blog or whatever so that should be cleared up.

if you wrote this guide yourself, hire a better writer. you sound like a PLR article right out of warrior forum.

Well holy crap! Enough about Aweber, lets talk about Aweber.

Seriously though, if you want to post your damn aff link that's fine, but man FOUR fucking times in one post. Why the fuck didn't you just make the post one big fucking aff link.

wow they are eating you alive.

You're posting a guide on a very public forum and mis-guiding the public. It's pretty obvious you have very less idea on the subject, yet to create blatant flawed content, just to SPAM your links across the post.

Here in Wickedfire, if you make baseless guides, most likely, you will be corrected. But if you do, what you have done, people are sure gonna flame the living crap outta you.

Take care.

Not to defend this guy at all - but if you aren't spending a little time getting all those "clicks" you are paying for into a newsletter you really are leaving money on the table.

You spend xx cents getting someone to your page - if they actually sign up for your newsletter you can hit them more times - and probably when they are ready to buy.

If done right - it can even increase your conversions on your landing pages BECAUSE you look a little more legit. Hell you can even make your newsletter content as an archive on your site to increase your QS.

(not for ring tones, or "vote for the xyz" type sites - but "REAL" product sites)

Aweber just changed their pricing model - and I'd be reluctant to sign up at their new rates - but for those of us grandfathered in it's quite lovely... and increases the bottom line.

I lose big time on almost all my PPC -- but I come out very much positive once you throw in the newsletter income over time. I view PPC spends in sign ups to the newsletters in fact.

It's NOT easy - It DOES take work - but it is effective. There is a reason all those places are paying you per lead - just do the shit yourself and make the money yourself.

Thanks for correcting me but I had my affiliate links on it as I an extra but the most important thing is content itself. Segmenting and using the techniques help. I believe you haven't done email marketing and if you have than you haven't done it the right way. It all about building the base for users. In PPC you have to pay for each click but in email marketing once you have the lead its for you until they unsubscribe and I have subscribers which constantly buy stuff thru my newsletters

Please enlighten me, as I am not able to make out what you're trying to say.

Sure as hell, assorting is the key. I made that pretty clear in my reply to your SPAM

I believe you haven't done email marketing and if you have than you haven't done it the right way.
Speak for yourself buddy. I have been into email marketing for well over 18 months now (I am sure you must be emailing since the last 18 years).

It all about building the base for users.
Mailing and conversing with the list is the next part, shouldn't Hot Stuff threads titled "Email Marketing 2.0 (whatever that means)" concentrate on this first. How to build a base?

You must be a rich-ass by now. What are you making 10k/day ? Good for you.. repeater leads are great.
