embedding youtube in wp

I'm betting its the visual editor too. My wife always has me put up YouTube videos for her cause she needs the visual editor for the blog, so when she wants a video added she needs me to paste it in for her.

It won't work without a plug-in, it has something to do with the way WP works, I'm not 100% sure but use Anarchy Media Player that will enable you to play mp3, flv, mov, mp4, m4v, m4a, m4b, 3gp, avi, asf and wmv in your wordpress blog by simply inserting the object code or .mp3 extention into your code editor.

It does work without a plugin, I do it all the time. Just switch to code view and past the youtube code in there.

Why the hell does that never work for me without the damn plug-in haha, probably has to deal with the visual editor fucking with your code. I know it does strip out some when you switch back and forth.

There was a way, it's been a long time since i've done it. but instead of using quotes (") in your code, replace them with appostrophes ('). Like people mentioned before the editor fucks with the coding and strips out lots of shit. just google it. you'll find the answer about problems with embedding videos with wp. Good Luck.

Here's a another way, see if it helps ...

It has to be the visual editor

Make sure in Users > your profile > decheck visual editor

Or upgrade your Wordpress

It works perfectly..

You are absolutely correct, might also want to make sure correct XHTML is not checked.....

Anyway the Anarchy Media plugin kicks ass! I try to avoid plugins when I dont have to, though this is a must have...... There is even a version for MU that works sweet....

If you switch off the visual editor to add the video and then go back to it, that will mess up the code. Make the change the last thing that you do and just leave it alone once the video is added.

Yea, if you are adding the embed code into the CODE option in WP, then DO NOT switch back afterwards. I write out my post first, and then click CODE, and add the embed code and hit POST. Works this way, but do NOT edit in visual editor after you posted the embed code, or it removes some of the code

It sometimes can be the browser you're using. I've had trouble in WordPress, on occasion, with some plugins as have others I've dealt with when using IE. Try it in Firefox. If you're already using FF, then try it in IE. See if that helps.
