Exploiting Wikipedia

Can anyone experienced in gaming Wikipedia share some insight on the stumbling blocks with doing this:

I notice that a lot of obscure, but well-ranking articles have links on them to Wikipedia pages that aren't yet created, so they think to the "edit" page. Is it possible to create these "missing" pages under the radar? And at least temporarily fill them with parasite content? Or at least fill them with legit content but drop external links?

Also, now that I posted that article someone will probably take the "not-created" pages in an attempt to do this..

So, what I'm talking about is: when you see a link on Wikipedia that is red in color, and links to a "Wikipedia does not have an article with this exact name" page.
