Hi

I have a direct linking campaign (using merchant landing page on my own domain via iframe)

I run for 2 days - av pos is 6.9 and ctr 0.12!

I have great segmentation to adgroups and good ads.

All keywords are great or good QS

Is there anything I can do to increase ctr, except of increasing bids?

Could anyone advise me on good strategies to launch campaigns in competitive markets?

Thanks

You're going to need to build an LP that relates to the specific kw's your bidding on. The iframing method typically won't work for competitive niches unless you're losing your ass on high bids. Do some research on quality score, build up a nice QS with a kw dense LP and you may find a better ranking and CTR. At the same time you may want to test some more creative ads.

if you mean a low CTR from google to your LP and you don't want to increase your bids for a higher position, the only thing you can really do is try out a bunch of a new ad copies and find one that is more attention grabbing.

If it's any search term that triggers extra SERP elements (like the "one-box" local results), that will kill your CTR for sure.

all of the advice here are clutching at straws and are FUCKING meaningless when we don't know the specifics.

you ask us to show you how to get a higher CTR without raising bids, but the only that will happen is by changing the ad copy .... but how the fuck can we give you advice on changing ad copy when we dont even know what you're doing?

until then - increase your bids - that will increase your position

but in the end, this helping people over a fucking forum is near useless when the helpers don't have enough information, most of them regurgitate what they know or GUESS.

Another thing you can try that I didn't think to mention earlier is separate your keywords into as many related adgroups as possible, with different headlines (containing keywords) so that most times your headline will show in bold. This will also make it easier for you to see which keywords have a higher CTR than others so you can cut out or work on the adgroups containing keywords with the lower CTRs.

I would think regurgitating what you know about AdWords and CTR would be a good thing... :repuke:

yeah but here's the thing. you're going to have this guy going in circles trying out different things and losing even more money. (in a sense this isn't bad - he will learn, but seems like he's a bit too pussy to lose money right now, doesnt wanna up the bid)

in a perfect world, we would be able to diagnose his campaign and give SPECIFIC advice, not generalizations

Write better ads and split test them more until you get a higher CTR. If your QS is already good or great then keep working on those ads.

1st error

2nd error.

6.9 position? 6.9 POSITION? That is a position for sex, not marketing.

I have great segmentation to adgroups and good ads.
No, you have shitty ads. The ctr is the proof.

All keywords are great or good QS
apparently you dont know that much to judge that.

Is there anything I can do to increase ctr, except of increasing bids?
Make a good eye catching ad copy.
