Looks interesting to say the least:

Facebook broke in its brand-new Facebook Terms and Policies Hub with a revamped data use policy, as announced by Chief Privacy Officer Erin Egan in a post on the Facebook and Privacy page. The three most significant changes, Egan told TechCrunch:

  • Facebook can now use users’ data to serve them ads while they are on websites outside of the social network.
  • The social network clarified how it uses cookies for internal improvements, but not to track its users across the Internet.
  • Facebook provided more details on how it will retain users’ data “as long as necessary to provide you services.”
New competition for Adsense coming up? I could see this being very good for publishers having two serious competing display networks. Would also give video and other time-waster sites an easier way to monetize I think.

Hell yeah. I wonder what people will think once they realized they can be accurately tracked on sites outside Facebook even if they aren't logged into the site. I bet they'll start with sites where you are logged in with FB connect so it makes more sense to the average user.

Adcents needs some competition. If anyone hears anything along these lines.. please start a post on it.

I would like to see a very large % get out of adcents and take up facebook (adcents ads).
