Broadly speaking is there anything I need to be aware of, or are there any massive limitations I'm overlooking if I were to make the switch from default wordpress comments to facebook's system?
So far I've figured:
I've considered Disqus and Livefyre, and think they have too much sign-in options for an audience which isn't massively tech-savvy, and hasn't often got a desire for anonymity.
Thoughts before I test? I couldn't find much discussion using search...
So far I've figured:
- Can't save comments locally, so no switching, and will lose what meagre comments I have
- No control of external code
- Privacy/Data tracking
- Commenter's are auto signed in assuming they never log out of fb
- Adds faces/social proof much better than gravatard
- Recognisable brand/trust
- Eases server load slightly
