Yes, I saw the other thread http://www.wickedfire.com/shooting-shit/169439-live-facebooks-see-what-were-building-event.html but didn't seem like it was creating much conversation.

I was testing out the new searchable functionality and it looks like you can sort search results by the following:

- Posts by Friends - This means you can search any given query using your top search bar and select "Posts by Friends" and it will yield the last 15 posts with the exact match of the specific query.

- Public Posts - Works like Posts by Friends but for any posts that were set to public. (Public Posting was preset as default for me)

What does this mean for marketers?

You can easily connect with users posting about specific information. I searched "Diet" and found a few posts from Diet Pages and a few other people whining about their diets.

The access of connection appears to depend on the users privacy settings or your connection to them. For most public posts, I can only "share" the post but for some, I can like and comment.

Not sure if the data past the 15 posts is available but I think this may create some more opportunities where us marketers can do even more facebook stalking.

My queries don't appear to yield specific advertisements but I'm sure the ads will start to match with searches.

Haven't figured out how to use this in my business yet but I have some ideas

People on Facebook want to play games and post useless crap all day. They don't want to be hassled for diet offers or whatever else.

The big money has and will continue to be with Google where people are actually searching for info/products/services that you can bank with.

You couldnt be more wrong, FB has been a consistent revenue stream for me since 08.

Obviously google will remain king, but to suggest there isnt money to be made with a service that has 1.01 billion users is foolish.

I havn't managed to create a profitable facebook campaign yet, but I can imagine most people would be considered in the information seeking phase if somehow you reach them with your ad.

In google, using keywords you can usually filter users on whether they are info seeking, comparing or buying.

You can sell to all three groups, but usually buying phase is the easiest to convert. Which is why google is so much more profitable than facebook. But I can imagine if you can convert information seeking people, you can get facebook profitable too.

got it enabled, rather obvious what they're doing.. for instance.. "People who like running in city, state"

Gives you the list, along with a message/add friend option. Consider the message option with their recent pay to message/inbox shit, $$$.
