Although the news of facebook banning many of the diet ads is not news to most around here, I did get word from my manager today that they will also be banning keywords from ads such as Acai, Green Tea, etc.

I also chatted with him today about diet stuff and here are some tips to get your ad approved if you want to run anything in that niche:

  • Can't be blatently midleading. (IE 40 lbs in 5 weeks!!!!oneoneshiftone)
  • Can't be the blog format. He said that the entire "subjectivity" of the ad approval process is removed in this case. It's a guaranteed disapproval.
  • LP Has to match the ad. Without blatantly saying it, he gave me the impression they know about some of the ... methods ... some people are using to cloak.

The impression I got from him is that diet ads are very difficult to get past approval but it might still be possible.

Again, nothing ground breaking but any info helps.

I'm hoping there's a bright side to this, and minimum bids drop at least in the short term.

Facebook ads are a total Joke ad gustapo's are total douche bags i hope they read this IM thinking about just spending $3k on dick rollin all ads on that piece of shit facebook ad center site

I'll let them try to take down my 1,000 copies of my campaign

It is very easy for them to do. They did it to me back in September when they disabled all my dating ads (thousands of them) with user attributes.

My click costs have been going down for the last 2 weeks as they have been disapproving diet ads.

Yeah same here, what used to cost me .40's are now costing me .20's. I stopped promoting diet a while ago, and its certainly paying off to some degree. Conversions are nowhere like what they are for diet, but profit sure is rising as of late due to lower costs for more volume of traffic and conversions.

Yesterday was a dark day on Facebook for diets. I lost about 3/4th my ads - but they were really "racy" and in obvious violation of the rules. I will still running Kim Kardashian, Oprah, and other celebrity ads.

I still have quite a few - but this oasis wont last very long in my opinion. Profit has really been rising though, like everyone says.

Oh, those fuckers. :ugone2far:

Hi,

One or more of your ads has been disabled for not being in compliance with our Advertising Terms. We reserve the right to determine what advertising we accept, and we may choose to not accept ads containing or relating to certain products or services. We will not allow the creation of any further Facebook Ads like those that were removed. We appreciate your cooperation with this policy.

When creating a diet, health or weight loss ad in the future, please note that the ad cannot single out individuals or degrade the viewer of the ad. The ad text should present realistic, accurate information about weight in a neutral manner without implying that certain body types are more desirable than others. No health conditions may be presented in a negative light, and the ads should not encourage unhealthy weight loss. Any images accompanying the ad text must also adhere to these guidelines, and images depicting unusual or unlikely changes in weight or health may not be used.

Additionally, no ad may be misleading about any offer that it makes. All health ads must include the name of the product or service advertised. We're no longer accepting ads that offer a “free trial” requiring a paid monthly product subscription with a cancellation process, or ads for blogs or other sites that are actually a cover for any prohibited product.

Thanks for your understanding,

The Facebook Ads Team
