The sign says "Nowhere".
I have been testing an ad on facebook for few days using CPC. My CTR is 0.13% and the CPC bid has been in the range of $0.26-$0.30. Good but I would like it to be at $0.10.

So, I decided to change the same ads into CPM. With CPM, the ads are not getting the same CTR anymore. It is much much lower at 0.018%. I wonder why this happened?

Is this is a trick by Facebook to force me to keep it CPC since they make more money?

Pretty much, they're doing what any good site with massive ad inventory would do, segmenting it based on profit. The CPC inventory is positioned on locations/pages/profiles that are proven to click while the CPM inventory is placed on locations/pages/profiles that are proven to have banner blindness. But that doesn't mean you can't make money off of the CPM inventory.

i run almost exclusive CPM and typically get good CTRs on my best ads. Although usually when I try to switch an ad from CPC to CPM I get the same result. You can try deleting and resubmitting though. Sometimes, for whatever reason, the first time you submit it doesn't do well, but the 2nd time it does great...

I tried adding new ads with CPM but same results. very low CTR as compared to CPC.

What's more funny is that, facebook shows "reach" not impression in their dashboard reporting. I was doing my math wrong, multiplying reach by cmp rate. It only when I saw that it is "reach" not impressions, and saw my spend is way way higher. You have to multiply the reach by frequency to get the cost. I'm sure facebook must be raping those people who don't know this or fail to notice it for the first few days.

Now I have to go back to CPC. How can raise my CTR and lower my bids? Do age segmentation? Should I create ads with age range, example 30 tot 35 or one ad for each age group?

If you click on "Full Report" you'll get the exact impression count.
