Facebook's Focus On Search

That search bar has been like that for A LONGGGGGGGGGGGG Time. There is "some" new redesign coming but it's not out yet. The screenshot you have, is of the current design which has been with us for a while.
That's Desktop. It's starting to sound like the USA has had this version a lot longer than the rest of the world, if the top just turned to "Search for people, places, or things" for people outside the US recently.
They rolled this out in the late summer of last year.. I remember because I had a presentation for an SEO conference and part of it was how to get Graph Search, then they rolled it out to everyone prior to the conference so I had to remove that slide.

It's pretty good for creeping on chicks. You can search for all of the females who work at a specific Walmart location, for example.
Yup. And for those pesky girls that have their profiles private to where you cant see their pics, you can search "pictures taken of Girls Name" and find pics of her that are in her friends' profiles. If you wanted to get more granular, you could search "photos tagged with girl's name"
I'm sorry I rustled your jimmies. I assume when you opened the thread, located in the STS section, you were looking for some epic knowledge bombs on ways to make profit from "social seo". Sorry for derailing your hopes and dreams.
