Extra tip - learn how to cook (especially the things you see in bags/boxes in the freezer section). You can usually prepare something yourself from raw ingredients for 10% of the cost of its packaged equivalent.

It's gonna take a little extra time but it's cheaper, it tastes better and if you're a guy, women are gonna dig you for it.

That was the best shit I've seen all week. Problem is you're at the mercy of the coupons. If it's not in a coupon then you're paying full price.

Good call. I do most things from scratch. It is so much cheaper and usually a lot more healthy. Canned refried beans: $1/can. DIY: probably five cents for the same amount of beans and spices.

one of my old roommates was a French Chef. We ate gour.fuckin.met every night for pennies. Plus cooking is fun when everyone is hanging out and the drinks start flowin

My wife recently got into coupons. For her, it has become a hobby. The other day she went to CVS. With her coupons, CVS had to give her a dollar and change to cover the coupons. And yes, they do that.

If you have a Publix nearby, they honor all coupons and sales from all other grocery stores. They also double them.

We now save about 75% every time we shop. It's pretty cool spending $200 and only paying around $50. The people behind us in line dont like it, though.

That is pretty amazing, total props to that woman.

What it's really about is organization. This woman is INSANELY organized and would have to be to know what they need and then balance all of that with coupons. If you don't think so just look back at her cupboard. It was like "Sleeping with the Enemy" in that cupboard.

I do this, and spend about $10 to $15 a week on food, although I suspect the woman was saving up her best coupons for the TV appearance, as it's not possible to use coupons for everything you need to buy. The trick is to match up the coupons with the sales at supermarkets that double them, and you can get items free or nearly so. Last week, I used 14 coupons, and got 10 containers of Greek yogurt for .10 each and so on.

Facebook also has a lot of sponsors with promo pages, and you can get free stuff by "Liking" their pages. The Saturday evening edition of the newspaper has the Sunday coupons that you can clip, without having to buy the big Sunday edition. Being a cheapskate not only saves money, it's a challenge to see how little you can spend.

A supermarket near me sells chicken for .59 a pound, which is unusually cheap. You need to buy this in bulk and make it your main meat item to eat this cheaply. Figure out all kinds of ways to cook it.

Yeah ive heard of this it's pretty cool. I don't do it though I figure I'll just spend the time working instead of clipping coupons then I make more money and get to choose what I eat myself.

Bingo. I could see doing this stuff for a hobby but if it was serious business and you had to do it to survive, i would rather just make enough not to worry about it.

I understand why some people think this is cool...but fuck that.

So she spends hours looking for coupons. Has to buy what's on sale so she really does not get any choice. She has to stockpile shit since some things are only on sale large scale and probably the whole coupon deal in the cashier takes an extra ten minutes.

Sorry I am not going to spend 4 hours and get soy based fucking candles because they are free.

If I was working at McDonalds and had a family of 4 that would be a different story.

That was pretty awesome. But I usually just find sites were you enter your email address and get a free $250 grocery coupon. It's pretty legit.
