Right. The FBI never breaks into people's homes while they're at work, and install keyloggers on their computer while downloading their hard drive contents. They also never intentionally install viruses on people's computers to retrieve sensitive data. And they definitely never use methods such as these to retrieve things like IM login info, then silently listen in on the conversions in real-time.
That absolutely never happens in the land of the free.
Existing laws already give agencies like the FBI full authority for this type of thing. They don't want to work for it though, and would prefer internet service providers hand them the data on a silver platter, which is what this push for more power is about.
