Breakup Notifier managed to attract about 100,000 visitors in just 24 hours after its launch. Until the moment it was shut down, it had reached the incredible figure of 3,673,484 visitors.

Apparently there's some fb glitch with it be closed at the moment. But with numbers like that, I'm sure it will get sorted out, even if the app needs to be redone to follow guidelines or whatever.

Breakup notifier wasn't the first app to do what it does, but Techcrunch wrote an article on it a few days ago and that's what blew it up. Read the comments to see them get skewered for featuring a "stolen app". That's why he moved on, he got called out for stealing an existing app and having his buddy at Techcrunch feature it.

^^^everytime something blows up people accuse the creator of stealing the idea. In the end, the first to gain market share WINS!

I agree completely. Just pointing out the background on the story.

ahhhh. let's all have a laugh at this dork's comment.

Dan Dipstik was sitting up one night with his mom and pet ferret, trying to conjure up some interesting technology news. They finally found the perfect blog, it was called TechCrunch and it once followed cool, innovate young start-ups. However, checking the site recently and to much disappointment, Dan saw that it was again filled with crap. I know this has happened to you: You find a great website, immediately add them to your RSS reader and then it gets big and goes to shit as it whores itself for cheap clicks and page impressions.

Well, Dipstick put his programming skills to good use, and spent four hours that night creating the TechCrunch Crap Notifier, which, similar to a more original and better service that I've chosen not to write about, eliminates the Carpal Tunnel involved with constantly refreshing TechCrunch on the rough hope that Michael Arrington may write something again.

TechCrunch Crap Notifier sends you the below email whenever one of your pre-determined selected hacks posts another piece of drivel. All you have to do is go to the site and choose one of TechCrunch's illustrious crew of 'reporters' that you wish to avoid and then you'll know when not to bother with the site.

Subject: WTF?

And you thought the Quora obsession was bad?

Dipstick acknowledges that a TechCrunch Interesting Post notifier might be more useful, but said there wasn't enough data to get a proper Alpha up and running.
