Finding a new "perfect" traffic source...

I expect to get shot down hard here... no I'm not asking for traffic sources.

Have any of you guys ever encountered this problem...

When I first started marketing online, I took the age old advice of mastering one traffic source, learning how to get profitable and scaling with it.

So, back then I chose Google Content. Obviously I'm a slow learner and it took me a lot of grinding and over 100+ campaigns before I started doing really really well. Making tons of money, things were great. 6 figures quickly.

I've had a few Adwords accounts banned. So instead of trying to get yet another one and bank for a couple months, I really think it's in my best interest to find that same success on other traffic sources.

I've done decent with some smaller to mid sized media buys, but I do like to have a self serve platform to test and get a proof of concept with first.

Now, when I try out other traffic sources I just get a shitty taste in my mouth. FB ad disapprovals, CPV volatility and $10 cpms, etc.... I have some projects outside of AM, in offer creation that have promise but they take time so something for consistent cash flow now would be nice. Adwords was like an ATM to me in most niches.

Admittedly I have not launched 100+ campaigns on these platforms.

Am I just being a gaping vagina and just need to grind more? FB has been the closest to adwords content in terms of methodology that I've seen but their ad approvals make me want to jump dick first on an ice pick.

/rant.... commence lynching.

lol I'd be so grateful for any actual insight, ya I fuked up.

ever traffic source has its own bullshit. And on long standing sources, less bullshit you find, the more competition you will as well.

The most important thing is to ask yourself "what does this source give me that others dont and how can i profit from that". It could be reach, targeting, traffic costs, anything.

I can tell you that the bullshit just goes up as time goes on, so maybe look for something new.

You're basically comfortable with self-serve ad platforms - Outside of FB, you might want to branch out to MySpace Ads and Plenty Of Fish. To avoid saturation, I'm not going to drop traffic sources here but you can reach out to me and I'll share some with you to get you going.

Thanks guys, I'm pleasantly surprised with the responses.. ha.

Conv3rsion... competition is, in my head, just part of the game. But that is a good question to ask myself so thanks, gives me some insight to work with. And yes I do have other things going on like my own products/projects and they will payout well but the payout will be a few months from now.

GrindHard... I just like self-serve because it's faster. Basically I just want to get to work, get data and get going without dealing with crap barriers. PoF seems like one for me to test.

And no I don't expect anyone to out traffic sources.

A big thing for me is the ability to bulk upload so I can split test tons of variations of stuff and chop down from there. It's the same thought process for me that I'm used to. Transparency is great too so I can see what is converting. Lol ya I'm askin for a bit much.

Thanks guys, I think I have a good idea of what direction to go.

I always looked at it 2 ways... expand out and spread yourself thin, or dominate what your in and crush the hell out of it as fast as you can.

I knew affiliates that would hire people, have big offices, and basically hit every traffic source with every niche and be spread out real thin while I focused on 1 traffic source and 1 niche and did it all by myself. At the end of the day though, we all actually made about the same amount of money tbh.

A lot of those guys are now back to just them doing it all, no employees, and focusing on like 1-2 traffic sources and like 1-3 niches.

Each has its pro's and con's for sure. If your so great at Adwords, I would almost stick with that and then work on why the hell your getting banned so many times and change that. If your only great at pushing rebill with flogs though and nothing else, then you might be doomed there.

so go back to adwords, but invest the time/effort to OWN THE PRODUCT.

voila - no more bans (assuming you were running more than just rebills)

Ya I'm going to be getting a new adwords account soon once I have a new card in my company name, and use it exclusively for our own products and such so on that front I'm good. Similar to you, I like to focus on 1 or 2 strong traffic sources.

Sonny... ya wasn't just rebills, a lot was lead gen for a local business that had a work from home opp (nothing shady), and I would get a higher ticket commission based on what the buyer got. And what you're suggesting is what I'm doing with our own products assuming I get the new account approved.

During the summer my Adwords account, along with anybody who did real volume in slighty shady areas, got banned.

Adwords was a HUGE source of my income. Seemed like in the summer (before the mass banning) you could throw up any old campaign and have in profit easily.

Because I was so narrow minded after I got banned I immediately poured thousands into other traffic sources and started diversifying where my income came from. Blindly buying up 4-5 figures domains, etc.

A month or so ago I got back into Adwords. Not really sure why - just one day woke up and said I was going to go back to it.

It's still just as easy to get campaigns profitable with offers that don't get your ass banned. And prices are WAY down from what I remember paying in some of the more legit niches I was in.

...I know there is actually quite a few guys on here who still do huge volume on Adwords (they just pretend like it's "dead" or "not worth it").

It's just a little tougher now like all traffics eventually get (cough, cough FaceBook).

I know you said you are getting back into it - but like eliquid said don't stray too far from what you know so well. :-)

Isn't that a contradiction? Being banned and sticking with Adwords would seem narrow minded. Diversifying would be the opposite (open-minded).

Just sayin'.
