Hello all, got a Noob questions for you. So i have been working on my first facebook campaign this week and am having a tough time with keywords. I have tried searching but cannot find a good article that really explains how keywords work on facebook. To me it looks like the keywords really are just pages. I am using keywords but i don't have any idea how good they are besides how many people it will expose me to. Is there a tool somewhat similiar to google keywords or something that helps with facebook? Thanks in advance for any help as well as the links i will recieve to gay porn.

Keyword targeting goes after words that are in a user's profile. They don't search for them like in google, you're effectively targeting someone's interests rather than a search

papa,

Yes I understand this, what i am asking is this. Is there a program or way to rank the keywords and combinations of these interests/keywords to find niches/search items like you can with wordtracker and keyword tool?

dewoof,

Start your campaign on ppc search first. This way, you find out what keywords/referring sites convert. Then, you simply get demographics from those successful kw's and referrers off demo sites. Not only do you then apply those succesful demo's to your fb campaign, but the kw's as well. Although if you just use the kw's, you'll get more volume. Use google ad planner. I could go further...

That is what i am in the process of doing. Really I'm asking because doing this is a pain in the ass but it is what it is. I will take a look at google ad planner as well. Thanks for you help all.

What do search keywords have in common with profile keywords ???

Stuff people search for is most likely something they do not know about, are curious about and unlikely to have in their profile. Stuff people put in their profile is probably something that is part of their identity already that they have no need to search for. Search keywords are often phrased as questions (they are not called queries for nothing) and are a bunch of weird long tail phrases. Allowed profile keywords are restricted by Facebook and are usually pretty short-tail.

These are the basics and the challenge is to figure out how to apply them to your niche. If you have some actual examples of successful keyword-targeted Facebook campaigns to post here, then we would have something useful to talk about.

ok so I'm confused now. Basically how i understand it is i want keywords targeted to what someone might type in at the top in the search box, correct? Because it seems all my "keywords" are ones that facebook recognizes as pages.

Nope, on Facebook you cannot target keywords typed into search. Keywords on Facebook mean targeting users who have this keyword in profile.

You are welcome to brainstorm examples of profile keyword campaigns here.

Boy facebook really makes life a pain in the ass huh? I just upped my CPC amount and started getting some impressions here and there, once i get clicks i will start to lower and eventually go to CPM when i find good conversion ads.
The other things that suck with Facebook is getting ads approved. It fucking takes forever! I am 11/12 on approvals though. I guess my dead baby ad wasn't as impressive to them as it was to me.:sadcrying4:

Nice. My ad was basically for a baby product. I had a picture of a mom setting a dead baby down in one of those hospital beds for babies, and my title was "Are You Hurting Your Baby?" I was going to put murdering but obviously that wouldn't have worked.
