How do you guys find the demos that aren't completely obvious? I'm not talking about trivial stuff like I won't be selling acai to children/teens or biz opp to $100+ k wages but, for example, teeth whitening offers. How the hell do I reason that out which demo I want to target for my placements?

If anyone could drop some knowledge that would be real helpful. I'd post some tits but I'm still at school

Think to yourself, if you're an average dude in your thirties or forties, would you really be interested in teeth whitening? I would think chicks are way more self conscious about that kind of stuff, the average guy can barely dress themself let alone worry about how yellow his teeth are.

That's one way to look at it. Another would be, do you smoke? Do you drink alot of coffee or red wine? If so, your teeth probably look like shit, try this....

etc etc.

With teeth whitening, can you think of any mainstream products?

Yes, Crest Whitestrips.

Look at their advertising. Find their ads online, commercials on youtube, etc.

Study them. Who do they look like they're targetting?

I remember one in particular, where the early 30s chick went to a cute guy and smiled, and he was turned off, then she did it again with white teeth and they started going out.

You can deduct by this ad, they're targetting young women, probably 18-35 range, who are single and looking for love.

This method can be applied to almost every niche.

if they are fat and single they probably don't take care of there teeth also look at google trends and quantcast.

I actually find print magazines to be really helpful for this if I see an ad I think I could knock off and turn into a lander.

Seriously, call the magazine, say you're the promotions guy for something or other, and ask them for a media kit. It'll have everything about the magazine's target demo.

Excellent sexy idea. I always stole ideas from Mags, but to ask for a media kit takes it one step further.

Thanks for the ideas, yea i agree with hyperion the magazine thing is interesting. I should try that.

hannahmcintyre - i feel like an idiot for not thinking about that. I don't ever watch tv, so i'm not exposed to tv advertising as much.

affiliatearmy - lick my balls i was asking for general strategies for demos, not for someone to do the work for me.
btw quantcast and compete approach uselessness if you don't actually know your demo yet.

That's why I said approaching. I mean what, you can search the crest whitestrips site, some dentist site? or some niche/article site about white teeth?

That's been my main strategy but you can go insane quantcasting all those different sites and trying to figure out which of those different demos should be closest to the real one. Because i usually find that three or more different sites, related to the topic or offer, can give very different demos for the sites. Which doesn't exactly help when you're trying to find good placements. That's actually the reason I started the thread. I was sure there were more and better ways of finding good demo's than just quantcasting authority sites.

i'm using teeth as an example in this thread so I didn't actually go about quantcasting teeth sites yet. I still might tonight though.

didnt think I needed to spell it out 4 u a-hole..was trying to help-

1) Find sites that are RELATED to your subject.
2) Quantcast/compete
It wont spell out everything, and generically can the aforementioned sites can be off, but Ive found GEMS using these tools and more by studying the sites that are RELEVANT to the offer and the DEMOS that go along with them. Using those sites ALONE wont get you razor sharp demos (duh) but they are good precursors to begin demo's for testing.Ive found multiple demos that worked for my offers too, simply using the relevant sites first, testing the demos and whittling down the winners/losers.

Also someone once told me about google ad planner for demos, but Ive never used it.

ps-lick your own balls, bitch.
