First Time Apple Has Pissed Me Off

I ordered a 27" new iMac on October 26th and got the expedited shipping. A week later I called and asked why my order hadn't been shipped yet, they told me "It is supposed to be put together and shipped out in the beginning of November."

November 11th now and I call again, they tell me "They haven't started to build the computer yet but it should ship out sometime in November."

I'm paying over $3k for a computer as well as expedited shipping, and it's been 2 weeks and they haven't even built the computer yet.

Anybody else that order an iMac have to wait this long? I just want my damn LED.
 


I think Mac has just been inundated between Snow Leopard and the new 27" iMac rollouts. I didn't order expedited but was surprised that it took them 2.5 weeks to ship my no-frills 24" last month.
 
I've never owned a Mac, so I'm not pretending to be an Apple expert here.. but my experience with apple on my PC has been absolutely terrible. All the software they give me (itunes, Quicktime, etc) has always been nothing but the worst bloatware pieces of garbage on my computer.

How could their OS or computers be so different? Sorry if this is off topic.
 
itune is a piece of shit, seriously why cant i add music to my ipod without going through a piece of shit like other mp3 players

It's different with a Mac. I'm a PC user but I realize the software performs a lot better on OSX than on windows--the ports are just garbage. iTunes is the biggest piece of shit application but I have to run it so all my friends can figure out how to use my music when they come over.
 
You could build a very kickass machine yourself for 3k.

Seriously, solid state drive, two 24 inch monitors...and you don't have to make an appointment to fix it yourself.

But that sucks it's taking so long, seems ridiculous. I have no experience with Apple so I have no idea if this is the norm or not.

I'm not saying Window's is great. It's just I'm not impressed with Apple after the shit they've put on my computer. And I did admit that I'm not an Apple expert. I've only seen the complete shit they've put on my computer.
 
You can build a custom spec Mac from parts too. Slightly more expensive, but a friend runs a custom built Mac in a sweetly modded case.

Sup3rnova: I'd demand the shipping costs back if I were you. Expedited shipping is worthless if they don't actually have the units to ship on time.

Or, unplug and hide the keyboard and mouse so they can't fuck with your playlist. Your house, your music.

There are a ton of 3rd part software applications for just this sort of thing. I use Anapod Explorer for example.

to everyone saying build it yourself, I have the knowhow to, I just prefer buying from apple. I have my reasons. However for servers, I do build my own and run BSD on them. Fuck linux
