So I have some good news to report. I have gone from nothing to consistently having $1000 profit days in affiliate marketing on about 6 diversified campaigns. I have crushing student debt from a useless education that should be paid off in a month at this rate, if I don't blow more profits testing new campaigns.

I've been an office drone my whole life and I live in Indiana. It sucks here. Everyone is fat, it's always dark, it's cold, the cops are insane, the people are ultra conservative socially, the women are either fat or married at 20, there is nothing to do except drink, I could go on...

It's time to end that and grow a pair and do this full time. Once my loans are paid I will be moving and starting a new life. Hopefully it's not to late (I'm 28 but in good shape). I considered San Diego to chill with all you Internet people, but I think I would like to experience something radically different and with a cheaper cost of living.

So I've been researching Florianopolis, Brazil. I practice BJJ and think Brazilian chicks are hot as fuark, the weather is perfect, living is cheap etc. Can anyone who has lived there guide me? I have no idea what I'm doing.

The average income down there is 3x lower than Indy...is the COL therefore 3x lower, as would be expected? How much is an apartment on the beach with security? 1 bedroom, nothing balling. Oh, and furnished.

Is it advisable to do this or am I nuts? Couldn't all my campaigns burn out and then I'm fucked? I have no idea how long PPV campaigns last.

What the hell do I do about taxes? I've heard the first 87k is exempt from US taxes when you live overseas? Do I have to pay brazil taxes? And if no, is not paying them some sketchy Grey area shit that might get me in trouble?

Can I bring a cat down there?

I want to learn Portuguese there. How much do I need to learn beforehand?

Any and all information regarding the sexy Bishes.

What do people do for fun? What substances are legal?

As an international affiliate, if people send me cease an desists or other legal bullshit can I just toss it away?

If shit hits the fan could I get a job there to tide me over to the next campaign?

Anything else I should know

I am determined to make a radical change in my life and live my dream. I've suppressed it for my entire life.

Talk to Charles Martel here on WF. He's our resident expert on that region.

If you're for real, and I think you are (just a gut thing) then you get the fuck out of Indiana and do it, or you're a useless fucking poseur.

You are on the brink of a great adventure.

I dont think I've ever heard anyone say "man I regret moving to Brazil where there are tons of horny babes". Go to Brazil and don't look back you wont regret it. and the babes are dying for it.

I'm kind of a believer in expanding horizons, but it seems to me you are looking at a location based on "chicks are hot as fuark".
If you are making money, spend some time there as a visitor. Get to know the people, language and the nuances of life where you think you may want to live.

Little side story: Brazilian chick was visiting my area and wore a "tanga" or "Thong", I have no problem with that, but it isn't "normal" in the area. She ended up scooting up some rocks and ended up with rock rash on the exposed skin. There are reasons locals do things certain ways.

I'd agree with Galacon about getting out of Indiana, but maybe give San Diego a shot while you learn the basics for Brazil? Just a thought.

I haven't been in a while, so I don't know about the prices. I think it's more expensive than when I was last there. I do know that cars and electronics are much more expensive, especially imported cars.

Lagoa da Conceição is a good place to stay. It's close to Praia Mole and Praia da Joaquina, nightlife and restaurants. If you live in downtown Floripa, it will take a while to get to the beaches, esp if you take the bus.

This is a good blog on living there. The guy moved down there from San Francisco and opened a Mexican restaurant.

Floripa Living

I recommend the Pimsleur Brazilian Portuguese program. (Check torrents.) Each volume takes 30 days. If you take just volume one, you'll have enough Portuguese under your belt to get around. It will give you a good handle before you take classes. If you know some Spanish that will help as written Portuguese is close to Spanish. However, it sounds completely different.

From what I've read, you become a tax resident if you stay 183 days or more within a 12 month period. Maybe spend less tan 6 months in Brazil and then head over to Chile, Argentina, or Paraguay for a bit. Uruguay is decent but has a lot of street pollution and the only place that's decent is Punta del Este. The rest of Uruguay is pretty sleepy.

Right now it's summer and a good time to go. Make sure to bring powerful sunscreen (one with zinc oxide) as the sun on the beach is deceptively strong. Rent an umbrella from one of the vendors, so you don't fry.

You can smoke weed at the beach Praia Mole from what I've seen. Your best bet would probably be to go there for a month or two and see how you like it. That's also a good idea in case your PPV campaigns crap out.

One of my buddies moved to Brazil and he isn't in the online marketing game, he's actually barely working at some school and still living pretty damn well.

Is he teaching English or something? I heard you can do that in a bunch of countries. In Thailand, I met one guy making 25,000 baht/month teaching English.

A buddy of mine lives down there. He loves it. If you really want to go, just pack up and get on a plane. Do some research to find out where you should and should not go. You'll be amazed how fast you pick up the language when you have no other way of communicating.

This is great - go for it. And at 28 years old ... man ... you can do anything. I packed-up my life (literally reduced my whole life down to a small storage locker), put my shit in a van and moved to Italy when I was 47.

Here's my suggestion: make some connections before you go. Local knowledge is king. Maybe meet a woman through an online dating site? Be careful though. Or how about connecting with some software developers down there and meeting-up them.

Local language is vital unless you can find and afford a 100% trustworthy lawyer and accountant (as was necessary for me when I did my Romania thing). Michel Thomas got me started with Italian.

Listen to the advice about going there for a couple of short trips before you take the plunge. I spent several long trips in Italy, checking-out different towns - I didn't like the feel of the city I thought would be a good place to live, and from travelling in Italy I found a spot that was perfect for me, completely away from where I first thought of looking.

I worked in Brazil twice, a couple of months each time, in Sao Paolo and Brasilia. I really like Brazilian people, they like to party and smile a lot. I met a girl, Talita was her name, and all she wanted was to enjoy life and have fun, and on the whole her friends seemed just like that. She did start talking about a baby at one point but you know how girls can be. Love Brazilian food - it's cheap and varied and tasty.

All in all ... go for it !

we're all gonna make it bro

I'd save up at least a few months before making a move like that, but that's just me.

This

Go take a vacation to brazil to escape the cold weather but don't make any long term plans just yet.

mo money mo problems

If that's what you feel like and you already make money regardless of location, you know it's time to man up and pack your shit. If you did it in indiana, you sure as hell can pull the same thing off in brazil. Just your money will stretch longer. You could probably live a month off your daily earnings out there.

I've gone on these little "adventures" multiple times all over europe and never regretted it once. It's wise to not be xenophobic, especially if you're going far east where it all might come off as too different quickly. You'd be surprised at how friendly people from all over the place are toward english speaking folk.

An american passport gives you some terrible advantages, as you won't have to worry about visas to visit and spend some time in most decent places. Don't just go where you think the women are hot, because well -- they're everywhere.

I'm sort of in the same boat now, I'll just circle the world instead of settling for one place. Here's what I plan to pull off, you might want to do something similar:

Moscow to vladivostok - Take the longest train journey in the world, 7 days non stop. Covers most of russia.

Vladivostok to japan (tokyo, kyoto, etc).

Japan to honolulu. I want to learn surfing and skydive at least once over the islands.

Hawaii to somewhere central american (nicaragua, costa rica).

Then back to europe, preferably paris, amsterdam or somewhere off in sweden.

You could pull off a trip like this with a few thousand $. As you're buying one way tickets from places that are geographically near by, the flights are incredibly cheap. And if you stay in hostels you'll meet a bunch of cool people from all over the world who are trying to do something similar. It's not about "finding yourself" as much as it is experiencing that awe of new things different people and scenery bring.

Im in Louisville, Kentucky just a few hours south of you. I make the trip to Carmel a few times and up to Chi-town as well so Im up in your area a few times a year for sure.

I have a good friend I taught affiliate marketing to as well that has been successful and he lives in Sau Paulo. PM me and maybe I can hook you two up, you really need his insight as someone with money in the country before moving.
