I’m still here learning. Broke my site three times… once without backup. I won’t do that twice.

I’ve even learned to make my e-mail addy clickable. (Miniscule accomplishment, I know. But I’m starting from scratch here, so fuck you for rolling your eyes.)

Anyway the site’s up and running but has no defined direction yet.

I thought I’d post this and maybe save another noob the headache. I really struggled to locate the info needed to change my URL to sample.com, instead of the wp URL 404 - Not Found. So here’s what wp’s outdated instructions don’t make clear…..

From your dashboard under settings -> general, change your blog address to yourdomain.com. After you make that change move your index.php and .htaccess files in your file manager from public_html/wordpress to public_html.

(Unless you’ve changed your permalinks from default, you won’t even have an .htaccess file.)

Okay, now open the index.php file that you just moved and edit the line that says (‘./wp-blog-header.php’) to (‘/.wordpress/wp-blog-header.php’)

I hope someone finds this useful.
