Obama made a speech. It was filled with the same brand of bullshit he's been selling from the start. Harry Binswanger breaks down a few key elements of his speech on Forbes.com.

Obama To Americans: You Don't Deserve To Be Free - Forbes

An excerpt from Obama's speech:

there is a certain crowd in Washington who, for the last few decades, have said, let’s respond to this economic challenge with the same old tune. “The market will take care of everything,” they tell us. If we just cut more regulations and cut more taxes–especially for the wealthy–our economy will grow stronger. Sure, they say, there will be winners and losers. But if the winners do really well, then jobs and prosperity will eventually trickle down to everybody else. And, they argue, even if prosperity doesn’t trickle down, well, that’s the price of liberty.

Now, it’s a simple theory. And we have to admit, it’s one that speaks to our rugged individualism and our healthy skepticism of too much government. That’s in America’s DNA. And that theory fits well on a bumper sticker. (Laughter.) But here’s the problem: It doesn’t work. It has never worked. (Applause.) It didn’t work when it was tried in the decade before the Great Depression. It’s not what led to the incredible postwar booms of the ’50s and ’60s. And it didn’t work when we tried it during the last decade. (Applause.) I mean, understand, it’s not as if we haven’t tried this theory.

Note: it's a 2-pager.

Side note: I realize there is a strong bias against Obama on this board. That is unsurprising given his shenanigans and gaffes over the last several years. But I have a good enough memory to recall by username those here who once promoted his issues.

They bought his bullshit. Most of them are now silent. I can think of only 2 people who have publicly renounced him after supporting him.

And in 100 years, he'll likely be thought of as a hero and patriot. lol

* h/t to Karen De Coster. She is a very smart lady with an edge to her writing.

Voted for him 1st term... (yes, I fell for the "Hope and Change" bullshit). Not 2nd term.

Now I think he might go down as one of the worst presidents of all time.

I'm actually surprised we have not seen more people bitching about their health insurance being canceled here. With everyone doing IM full time... they probably have an individual health plan like I do... right?

I got one of those letters from my insurer about my policy being canceled early next year. What the fuck happened to... "If you like your health plan, you can keep it."?

You have 2 options.

1. You don't out them and your beloved political thread sinks to the bottom by the end of tomorrow.

2. You out them and this thread gets good, potentially lasts for a week.

You...you know what must be done.

I read this thread and read the article, but what can be said. He denounced capitalism and a free market in exchange for more government regulation and increased taxation. This, in combination with the crazy NSA shit, is bad. There's no reason to innovate and entreprenate in the US.

So yeah, might as well out some posters and rustle some jimmies so we can at least get a chuckle.

My friend, I don't do drama, and option #2 sounds dangerously close to drama. I do rabble-rousing, I poke fun at women, and I take every opportunity to mention how awesome dogs are.

But no drama.

In any case, so few of my threads hit that a quick descent into the bowels of WickedFire is an expectation. So no harm there. :)
