I received this email today.

This is crazy! There is no claim on my site that substantiates
this claim. From my knowledge, this person is not even a client.

Any idea on how to follow-up on this? I'm green when it comes to
legal issues so if anyone has any ideas do let me know.

"Do I know you?"

By the way here is a tip. Any time anyone threatens you with the Better Business Bureau you can rest assured they are a complete imbecile. Intelligent people actually realize the Better Business Bureau is itself a fraud racket and a complete waste of time.
 
Thanks, I've already done that. This is the first web biz I started
that has had so many angry competitors. Within the first week of
starting, I had a failed ddos attack, a legal threat which was not
legitimate and now this.

lol.. so much for the love in the music industry.
 
My theory is stay at arms length from everything. Then you don't have these problems. Make all roads dead ends for people. I've heard to many times about people being sued for dumb shit like using a trademarked term in a domain. Well screw that register all domains and hosting with pre-paid cards then you won't have this problem. Typically I like to put some sort of Russian mafia address, Igor Skendeko, Leningrad :), just for a little intimidation factor. As most know you don't want to mess with those crazy Russian spammers.
 
Ignore it. If anyone files a complaint against you with any agency, that agency will contact you themselves.
 
What are they gonna do? Filter your site in msplinks.com? Who cares, its obviously a bull shit email.

I don't think it's legit. The address is from a free email host. No reply so far from him. Hopefully it's for good.
 
It's just some shit competitors try to intimidate you with...I have a copy and paste text that basically tells them to contact my lawyer on any legal matters, including his contact details. You'll never hear from them again.
 
Im 99.99% sure it's fake.

Email is from a free webhost. Lots of angry competitors. Precedence of people emailing fake threats to you. BBB mentioned in the email. All of this points to FAKE.

Do you have any idea how many BBB members are the biggest bunch of scammers in the world? A lot! Almost every bait and switch camera store online is a member of the BBB and has a shit ton of complaints about them, and what does the all mighty BBB do about it? They hit delete on the emails. Hahaha!

lol i love getting calls from the BBB. They say I should pay them $500/year to be a member because I have no complaints against my company. So whats the $500 for? So we can log complaints about you. What happens if I get too many complaints? You get kicked out of the BBB. So I'll no longer be allowed to pay you? Thats right.
