The idea is so obvious it has probably passed through quite a few minds here (I would bet BYA has considered it), but I’m going to push it out anyway, since I lack the skills and time (I'm working on that ) and it might help any beginners get started online.
Create two visually captivating sites that put the case forward for freeing and not freeing Paris Hilton. Monetize them as you see fit.
Here's a few really obvious ideas to consider: I’ll leave being creative up to you; the thoughts below are just to help you start the planning process.
Design:
v Consider your visitor demographics and the star herself:
The target audience
- People who like her music *shudder*. Probably young female teens. They like pinks, reds fluffiness. Don’t they?
- Males from the young teens upward who wouldn’t mind shagging her or at the very least buying some erotic photography or film of her. These guys like those nearly nude pictures.
Use of soft pinks will probably hold the attention of the female visitor (yes, I know that’s a very stereotypical idea, but for the most part it works) whilst sexually appealing pictures (read as: Nearly Nude Paris) will appeal to men.
The target audience to aim at is late teens and 20s as they will be more likely to make purchases online. Make the site look 'web 2.0' with clean quality design and lots and lots of gloss (whether it be gradient and damned reflections or cliche photos of Ms Hilton at her best and worst). Need inspiration?
For the girls:
parishilton-fan.com - Nice and soft but a bit old looking.
onipblog.com – Nice and soft but not eye grabbing
For the guys: Just look at the use of imagery on any softcore porn landing page.
Content:
v Set up a Free/don’t free Paris petition, or link to one of the many that have been set up (I wouldn’t advise having many non-monetized outgoing links).
v Scrape some news feeds about why she is where she is now etc. Scrape some images for a gallery section and compile the basic biography (basically make it look like a decent site for both the visitor and the spiders). This won’t take long.
v Make a breaking news feed visitors can subscribe to, along with a emails newsletter. Pull together other feeds from popular news sites, repackage and sit back and relax.
Monetisation:
v Set up a mailing list and auto-responder with some opinionated emails and news nuggets to build trust then hit them hard with offers.
v Use in in-content links to affiliate offers as well as banners, remember a lot of this net savvy market don’t actually click on obvious adverts unless they are intriguing and flashy.
Offers could include affiliate links with stores selling her music (Amazon anyone?) or adult films. However I reckon you would be better off running with Ebay. You can catch any unrelated buys and new signups over the week, so conversions and ROI might be higher.
Anyway, I’m sure people can help with the creative details and monetization models. I’m just pushing the idea.
