Stossel did a special this week on Milton Friedman's series Free to Choose. The original series is free to watch here: "Free To Choose" (1980) PBS TV Series by Milton Friedman
I've only watched the first 2, but as usual, I learned something new from the late great economist. It's a powerful message from 1980 that seems more relevant than ever to our situation today.
In particular, I liked that an argument using Japan's pateralistic government was put forth. At the time, it was obvious Japan was doing well. But as usual, government bungling can only fight the forces of the free market for a limited time. As of today, Japan has been in a stagnant economy for nearly 20 years!
