free to use images?

Hey guys,
Sorry if this is in the wrong section. I was wondering if the WF'ers could recommend some free to use image sites for designing? I guess you could call it open source images and pictures that can be used for logos and designs.

What you're looking for are free royalty-free stock images.

This is one site for example that provides free royalty-free images.
stock.xchng - the leading free stock photography site

As for the rest, you normally have to pay for commercial usage. I often use istockphoto.com when I need vectors and other things for a client, and usually its pretty cheap (between 1$ to 10$). And because its royalty free the client may use it on as many things as needed.

However the cheap ones from istockphoto.com, getty and so forth cannot be used for logos/trademarks, they can be used for design. You have to pay a bit more for logo usage, since logos are exclusive to the client, and would cause other buyers of the design to risk a lawsuit using it.

thank you so much! that's the information I was looking for. I don't mind paying either as long as it's inexpensive. I was worried it would cost very much to get the rights to the images.
