Jack Cafferty (CNN's resident rabble-rouser) posted today about state governments tracking their citizens by GPS. They can sneak onto your property, walk up to your car, and stick a GPS underneath it without a warrant, and without your knowledge.
It's a good reminder that freedom is rarely ripped away in massive chunks. It erodes slowly. It happens through acquiescence. The populace, in response to any new infringement (it could be anything), says, "Alright. I'm okay with that. I don't like it, but whatever. Doesn't really affect me."
Bit by bit, however, it eventually affects us all.
Here is an example...
Recall the hubbub about airport scanners from last year. Some were vehemently against them, and considered them a gross aggression against privacy. Some were "okay" with them. They considered the issue small, given its impact on their lives. You can see examples of acquiescence in this thread from February.

I will leave the surprise for you to discover. As you read it, remember... freedom is allowed to erode piece by piece. It is something to keep in mind when you go to the polls in November to vote.
By the way, Cafferty mentions an article on Time.com that addresses the GPS issue. If you're interested, you can find that article here.
