Security Fix - FTC Sues, Shuts Down N. Calif. Web Hosting Firm

I first found out about this in the current Xrumer thread (I believe they were affected by this?) thought it was big enough news to get it's on thread.

In an unprecedented move, the Federal Trade Commission has taken legal steps to shut down a Web hosting provider in Northern California that the agency says was directly involved in managing massive global spam operations. Sometime on Tuesday, more than 15,000 Web sites connected to San Jose, Calif., based Triple Fiber Network (3FN.net) went dark. 3FN's sites were disconnected after a Northern California district court judge approved an FTC request to have the company's upstream Internet providers stop routing traffic for the provider...

and I was just thinking how grateful I am that I'm not into PPC

"Pricewert hosts very little legitimate content and vast quantities of illegal, malicious, and harmful content, including child pornography, botnet command and control servers, spyware, viruses, trojans, phishing related sites, illegal online pharmacies, investment and other Web-based scams, and pornography featuring violence, bestiality, and incest,"

Ok, never mind. When I hear "spam server" I envision something straight out of contempt.me ... relieved to hear this company actually was one of the bad guys.

not surprising however not all PPC marketers do things that could be considered malicious. i mean who doesnt want to lose weight and make internet moniez. lol. sounds what that company was doing was wicked sketchy. good for the FTC.

Yeah, I actually spoke to one of the creeps a day or so before the FTC dropped the hammer. They were trying to hack logins for a bunch of my wp sites.
No doubt they're already back up & running.
I've seen some of their handiwork appended to some community portals, I believe.
I'd bet they have something to do with some of that mewling & whining re: hacked wp sites over @ wafo, too.
Can't imagine where any of that traffic to my wp sites gets redirected to, now.

Xrumer auth server was hosted there, it came back up a couple days ago.
At best, this will only be a minor inconvenience to them.
