FTC Sweep - full info and documents

hearsay right now - godaddy is a possibility (very likely since they give up whois privacy protected info without a subpoena).

Eh, only if its a government entity. They still *loosely* abide by their promise in other cases.

It's likely that the FTC simply poured through Central Coast Nutraceuticals records to see who they did business with....and then just worked their way up or down the food chain from there. To the FTC, a lot of times the documents they get during an asset freeze are worth more than the business itself.

Fuck me, I'm glad I don't live in the US. Your government agencies are beastmode once they get going. Over here each publisher would get a stroppy letter, and be made to undertake not to do it again.

It's ironic how a country that prides itself on being a bastion of free trade has far more draconian regulation than the EU does.

this is true. they seem asleep at the wheel for years and then when they actually have to do some work they go hard in the paint.

All i want to know is... would affiliates, who are non-US citizens, get into trouble with the FTC?

Theoretically yes, but it's complicated. A lot of governments have reciprocal enforcement agreements with the US. It would be expensive, and they would have to be pretty confident they'd make more money back from pursuing you than an action would cost them.

If you did any serious volume, legal advice would be a wise investment.

Bullshit.

last year a well known celebrity tried their best to get my whois info from godaddy ( had privacy ) and they never once gave it up. How do I know? Godaddy sent me the c&d demanding my info and personally called me on the subject as well.

I ended up taking down the material and cancelled the domain, but my info was never once leaked to them.

The FTC is a little different than a celebrity. Just pointin that out.
