Fuck it, I've spent the last 13 weeks working my tayters off and I've made a massive $7.70 so far, so I think its time to loosen my jeans, bend over and expose my ripe virgin ass, ready to take it from you guys. Hopefully I may get a few pointers.

I'm trying hard to make a go of IM, I'm doing the niche blog approach, where I look for phrases with lots of search and shit competition, then build a blog and try to rank organically, and then promote some shit.

I've got 2 blogs in the same niche, one ranks 2 & 3 in US for my phrase, which gets approx twenty visitors a day. :( I was expecting 100 at least, but I'm a twat so I fucked up my phrase traffic data. This led to start another blog using a similar phrase with 5 times the predicted traffic than the first.

This is where I started to get shitted off with it. All I've done for the past 2 months is build links on relevant blogs and forums, write content, hubpages, squidoo's etc. It seems to have worked for the first blog, but the one I want to rank for is sitting at 103rd.

I cannot seem to rank for my second phrase , even though I thought that the competition appeared shitter than the first.

I suppose you could say, 'why not put your hand in your pocket you fuckwad and use PPC', but the thing is, whenever I put my hand in my pocket all I have in there is my sweaty ballsacks.

In a nutshell I have time, determination, but not a lot to invest at all, and when you are such a fucking noob as me, its tricky not to just blow your pathetic budget on something that is shit, so I'm trying to do this with precious little outlay. Plus some people I know already think I'm wasting my time with this, so I'm also determined to shit on their faces from a great height.

Really I'm not quite sure of the exact point of this post, I'm just venting, and asking for a few pointers.

I know there are a lot of fuckwits who just want something for nothing and they usually end up getting the meatspinner link, but I'm wondering if I'm really on the right track, or just wasting my fucking time? Does what I'm doing sound like it might work in time? or is my time spent better with a different approach?

This is my cap-in-hand begging thread, perhaps you could call it my 'fifteen minutes of shame' ;)

:crying:

Fuck it...........:crying:

I don't have any direct solutions for you without being able to study your pages/niche. Any even after that, I couldn't guarantee my ideas would be the the end all be all solution for ya.

I guess all I can say is (and I'm sure you tried this) look at what the top rankers in your category are doing on their site, and figure out how you could improve upon that to offer something of more value and interest to that audience. It helps if you have a sincere passion for what you are trying to promote, then the work will be that much easier (enjoyable) for you.

Also - keep digging for more info throughout this forums archives and others, you may stumble upon a missing link in your approach.

Not sure if this helps you. But good luck anyway - and don't give up, Rome wasn't build in a day.

You think building links on free sites like squidoo to your bullshit content blog monetised by adsense ads are gonna make you serious money? It may be the recipie for success on Digitalpoint, but you're better off getting a job if that's your idea of being creative and making money online. In fact, if you haven't got a job, go get one, save up some money, and then start with small budgets on PPC. If you don't want to do PPC, learn some proper SEO. If you want to do that, learn how to write good content and pray for links and readers interested in what you have to say, and if you can't do that, become a gay webcam whore. Failing that, paypal what money you have left to nickycakes and go kill yourself.

You sound like the guy in your avatar bwahahaha

Well the first step is to move away from Adsense, that's for sure.
Sign up for EPN, hydra, inlinks, anything other than Adsense. I would recommend EPN but it's tough to get an account there nowadays. Inlinks will give you more than frigging 7 bucks that's for sure.
Oh, and by the way, when I started IM, I had 20+ grand racked up on my two lines of credit, no job, three kids under age of 6 and a wifey who was understandably Not Very Happy.
You think IM noobs come to the show with money in the bank?

There is no magic answer. On the other hand, two fucking blogs in 13 weeks? What are they, made out of gold? Most dudes here average a site a week, if not more. You could have twenty failed sites before you get a successful one. It's not as if the money ain't there. It's how you're doing it. So learn something from your failures and try again.

Guy... use a $100 FB coupon for the love God. I made $300 with a free coupon, just hope you know how to select a good offer and a well targeted demographics.

And yes is my first campaign.
No, I'm not so noob.. that helps.
Yes, I lost my job and I'm broken.
No, I don't have fuckin fear to borrow money and invest it in PPC.

Translation: What you are doing isn't working.

13 weeks, it's early to rank well on google.com.

If you want to focus your trafic on SEO, you'll have to be more patient and make some better backlinks.

PPC is a short term solution, but you shouldn't make ppc campaigns with Adsense on your site.

You may be right. Move on to another project and come back to it later.

Everyone here has basically said what I would recommend to you. Diversify your projects. If i had to guess what you were doing wrong it was horrible keyword selection, awful use of adsense and finally not building enough links. Writing good content is important but noobs always think its the way you do seo. Thats wrong

Thanks for the advice fellers, its all good.

Just got one or two things to comment on.

Of course not, I'm learning, hence the post. I'm trying to promote products also, but as you once were, I'm new to this.

Fair comment.

I work as a web developer and my lack of funds is not due to laziness, but a run of bad luck, and I'm not crying about it, but attempting to remedy it.
In fact, I'm considering PPC.

I'm quite prepared to invest, and take a few risks, but I'm trying to reduce this risk by at least going into this some basic strategies. The point I was trying to make was that I don't have big budgets, and if I seriously cock up, it doesn't just affect myself, but the rest of my family.

Yeah, cheers.

You may need to look for another niche.

Rom ist auch nicht an einem Tag erbaut, that's english for geman.

To be honest, I'd've posted the same thread. I've had a number of successes in the past, and I'm now working on an Eli-style major content network to push sites via brute force. . . I'm having doubts on how successful it's going to be.

I'm also running a real white hat content site; marketing it via link building strategies of varying types - Wikipedia citations are a good one, that send more traffic than you'd imagine (though, still not very much; and it's hugely bouncy), forums, comments and discussions on your topics tend to e a good place to find internet savvy people who may have links for you...

Hmm, well the first thing I'd check is are you targeting buyer oriented keywords on your blogs?

Avoid information seekers. They rarely do a damned thing except waste your time unless you're trying to sell an ebook to them on the topic they're interested in. And forget Adsense.

Find a combo of physical products and downloadable ones that you can promote in a niche. Make sure you're promoting some brand names that people are actively searching for. If Oprah just recommended something in her magazine or on her show, at the very least throw up a page with a related Amazon link or something. Capitalize on buyer trends. Use keywords like "where to buy X brand product online" or "where can I buy x product" or dig deeper into the niche with "where to buy (niche) products."

Avoid freebie seeker keywords. Find the keywords that have the highest potential of converting into buyers and throw pages targeting those onto your sites. If you have to use longtail keyphrases of three to six words and you'll at least grab SOME traffic if it's a popular brand or type of product.

Say you're targeting hair removal as a niche. That's your niche.

Say there are ten leading products in this niche.

You should have at least ten pages targeting keywords like

"Brand A hair removal product" or "buy brand A."

And if you want to create multiple pages targeting each popular brand.

People are searching for stuff they want to buy, and it's your job to become a broker in that process - lead them out to a vendor where they can buy what they're ALREADY looking for.

Don't try to create a market.

The time wasting way of going about it is the stupid blogger way of writing 200 articles about hair removal and how to remove hair and the history of hair removal and how the ancient Egyptians were hairy or whatever.

Most people promoting blogging for money online are telling you the wrong stuff.

Don't post any pages that don't have buyer keywords on them.

Buyer keywords basically come down to:

1) An actual product name (or comparision of two brand names if you're offering a comparision type of review)
2) A product TYPE (i.e. hair removal products, hair removal creams, hair removal devices)
3)News related items - if hair removal products have recently been written up in Consumer reports or in Oprah mag or in Newsweek or in USA TOday or somewhere else quote some of that news story in a blog entry or article on your site, offer your own comments, and put links out to buy the product.

Narrow your focus and you'll be fine. Some niches will be losers. Some will be fine after three to six months but will suck and be low performers initially. Remember, your site will usually perform better with age. Try to create two sites per week minimum. Build backlinks gradually. You'll get there.

Hope this helps.

Have you tried using a keyword rich domain for your site?

There are many online business models, you might want to try a different business model. Also you might want to try multiple projects instead of focusing on one site and giving up to start a new site from scratch.

Not that I could help, I'm more of a noob than you are. But it doesn't seem like any of the skilled guys could really critique without more specifics... url, keywords, etc. Post your blogs with all info and a couple of jailbait pics and you'll probably get more help than you can handle.:love-smiley-085:
