Whoever programmed their adserving system is utterly retarded. I decide to test the system out with $100. I test with an offer that converted well for me on facebook. I know SM is shit traffic and don't expect it to convert as well, but I'm pay 1/3 as much for clicks and so we'll see.

After $100 spent I've made $20. Okay, take the loss go to bed. Wake up the next morning to see that SM served an extra $200 worth of clicks. The best part is I'm still not breaking even. That was all in one night, over about an hour. I leave the campaign "running" (It shouldn't be showing since my balance is at $0.00) and decide not to play with SM anymore.

I go to bed and start thinking about things that might convert and go back the next day to try again. I put in my $100 and wait for my ad to run. After a few hours I look around and realize that my ads not running.

Upon further inspection I realize that they gave me $100 extra clicks the second day, but unlike the first day, they charged me for them. When I put the extra $100 in, it went towards paying that debt.

I emailed them to get my money back with no reply.

Anyway, if my balance is $0.00 and you show my ad, its your own god damn fault. Build a better fucking system. Don't control ad status by a 15 minute cron job when you are sending millions of impressions an hour. Don't charge me for your lazy programming. Fucking twat cakes. I could build a better fucking system in a week.

Note: I didn't even bitch about how unbelievably shitty the traffic is. Thats for another post.

Make sure that all your daily spend limits combined don't exceed your budget. That's what will put you in the red.

ie: You put $100 in but have two ads going with a $100 daily limit each and you only spend $75 on each ad for a total of $150 which will put you in the red $50.

But yeah wonky ass system...bummer they just fixed that one bug. :(

EDIT: Also, Set you ad budget low, say 20 or 30 and you have a 1+ CTR on that ad you will get an overflow of clicks which you will not be charged for after you hit you daily limit on that ad. ;)

I literally lol'd

anyway yeah their system is shit and the traffic is shit etc

I tried them too - what a let-down. On their front pages, they proudly proclaim how advanced their targeting system is:
Targeting | SocialMedia
Network, country, state, age, gender, app type, even "using friend data". When you actually get into their system, they ONLY thing they let you target for is network and country. Try running a dating offer or something and there's no way to show it only to guys in the dating age. And you can only choose one network at a time. On the page above they proclaim to serve Facebook, Myspace, Hi5, Bebo, but if you really want to serve all of them, you have to enter the same ad 4 times.

I emailed them and they answered:
"For advanced targeting, we do custom setup and require 5k minimum spend. Right now, if you'd like to target multiple social networks, you'd have to set up separate ads."

Riiiight, like I'm gonna drop $5,000 on that pile of ... and then deal with emailing service reps for manual campaign setups and adjustments...

I've come to believe that the only consistent campaigns are ones they run themselves or perhaps they are those custom campaigns they've swindled people into. Everything else I've seen are either only up for a small window or are apps to install on facebook/myspace whatever.
