Ok so my wife does this Secret Santa thing. She picked a family from Canada and we cannot find a place that ships shit to Canada easily. All the fucking sites in Canada only accept Canadian credit cards.

To make matters worse we would just buy it here and ship it.. but are worried the person we are sending to will get hit with some stupid ass duty fees.

Only thing I can think of at this point is finding someone in Canada, sending them some paypal and having them buy me a fucking Visa giftcard registered in Canada.

This shit is beyond WTF

UPS, Fedex, USPS all ship to Canada.
NO shit!!!!!!!!!!!!

It is the Duties and crap the person we are shipping to would be stuck with paying. We are trying to figure out how we can pay them instead.

I would like to add the family this is one of those. Things for families who are less fortunate so we do not want to stick them with an cost they may not be able to or should not have to pay.

If the family lives in Vancouver send me a PM and I will see if I can help you out.

Call FedEx and find out how to ship it to Canada DDP (Delivered Duty Paid). I'm pretty sure they do it pretty regularly.
Yeah I just called in order to do that I need to create a Fed Ex account. Then specify on the label to bill me for the duties.

Not to mention they just told me it would be $95 to ship the shit.

We where going to get them like I don't know $200 in clothes. Seriously wtf!!!!

FedEx - Customs documentation guide - Understanding Duties and Taxes

Duties and taxes on international shipments will be billed automatically to the recipient, unless the shipper requests that FedEx bill the shipper or a third party. When completing the FedEx International air waybill or FedEx Expanded Service International air waybill, you can select the shipper, the recipient or a third party as the party responsible for payment.

Problem solved. Get them something nice...unless you're a peasant.

You don't want to be a peasant do you?

Canadians have to deal with this shit on a daily basis - except the other way around. Any time we find something online that is awesome, we'll have to double check whether it ships to Canada. 9 times out of 10 the company doesn't ship to Canada (even though we are a drive away), and the time a company DOES ship, it'll cost a bomb with duties etc.

What's worse is comparing Amazon.com and Amazon.ca ....NO comparison. The .ca version barely has ANYTHING..... :(

Duty free sure, but Uncle Dalton still wants his HST.

What? No... if you're say a US resident, and a Canadian company is charging you HST, then that company is ripping you off.

You don't charge GST/PST/HST to non-residents. For example, if you're an online company in BC, Canada, you charge GST to all Canadian residents, and GST + PST to BC residents. Those taxes don't apply to non-residents though.

You can't find something gift worthy on Amazon.ca: Online shopping for Canadians - books, electronics, music, DVDs, software, video games & more ?

Also not sure what you mean by Canadian credit cards only. If the site is charging in CAD, that doesn't mean the credit card has to be issued from a Canadian bank, eh? You can use a USD credit card, and the bank will do the currency conversion for you.
NO most the sites, you need a Canadian address attached to the card. IE a Canadian credit card. I think I figured out how to make it work.

There are some sites we can buy US gift cards, then use those on the Canada version of said sites. Seriously though this shit is complicated and irritating.
