Fucking Hostgator... any alternatives with better security?

So Hostgator is now gradually forcing all users to install Sitelock, a third party bullshit security provider which they partner with.

Problem with Sitelock is that they charge per domain, so if you have a network of 50 sites on your server, even though they're technically in the same folder, Sitelock will charge you per domain.

What other hosting alternatives are out there which provide better built-in security tools?
 


Hello friend, I would suggest geocities, top notch hosting provider with best in class securities.
 
Even after the demise of WF, seems people still prefer to give off 5 year old childish remarks.

Anyway, what type of level of security do you need? If you're running a financial operation, it's about $20k USD to get a proper military grade pen-test of your online operations.

Aside from that, I would just grab a dedicated server at any proper host, and contract out to a proper server admin at $100 - $150/hour. He's going to piss you off with things like SSH keys, and IP restrictions, and various other things, but nonetheless, you will be more secure.

As the old saying goes, you get what you pay for.
 
Liquidweb is great. As Jumangi said, be prepared to be pissed off by the various security measures and small inconveniences, but it's worth it...
 
If you use wordpress, get WPEngine, not the cheapest but definitely fastest/secure/reliability.

I do as a matter of fact, because, aside from whois protection, which I don't need, they are still by far the cheapest domains out there and have impeccable 24/7/365 US based telephone support. If I have a problem, if I need anything, I call my account executive and he deals with it.

As far as hosting goes, I've been with Liquidweb now for nearly 5 years and have nothing but good things to say about them. That's after using Rack Shack > EV1 > The Planet > Soft Layer, iWeb, SingleHop, Rackspace, numerous small European hosting companies, etc.
 
Godaddy has never never caused an issue for me, even when c&d and inquiries into my domains have hit me.

Cheap, never an issue, and they have protected my privacy a ton of times on certain domains.

That's the thing that's pissing me off right now with HG. They're forcing us to choose Sitelock even though their service sucks and doesn't even block 10% of malware out there. I have Sitelock on all my sites and all it does is warn you about malware but doesn't remove it. They ask you to pay an additional $299 to get a Sitelock specialist to remove it. Pure robbery.
