Search has revealed PayPal only allows one personal and one business account but that is just stupid if you run several business identities (such as 4 different ecommerce sites).

What does everyone do in this situation? Has anyone on here been banned for setting up multiple business PP accounts? It would be great if they did it like Google checkout and allowed multiple business identities within the same account.

I just don't want to sell knitting supplies from grandmothersbuyknittingstuffhere.com and have their PayPal checkout show they made a purchase at Papa Goatse's Wide World of Butt Plugs. It's just unprofessional.

Custom payment pages maybe?

Can't remember if it still shows the same biz name....

Multiple LLC's is one way to go to keep things separate, but I understand your position.. you want to keep it all in the family. How about making your paypal name something company specific (e.g. paypal@lotsofzerosmarketing.com) so the parent company is always what's referenced and you wont have to worry about which site they buy from...

I have this issue but I just changed my PayPal business name to "Internet Payments".

You can really do anything generic like that.

Yeah, I've already got multiple email addresses feeding to the same business account but they still see MyCompanyName, Inc. and not MyEcommerceWebsite.com.
The customer doesn't know what the company name is, they only know the website they purchased their product from.

I'm really just trying to keep customers from getting confused.
And I already do have multiple shell corporations to use with multiple bank accounts, that's not the problem, it just seems that PP isn't very flexible with this policy and honestly, I'm more paranoid of them than Google from all the horror stories I keep hearing.

Avoiding customer chargebacks are key to this too.

I think PayPal doesn't really care about having multiple accounts. As long as they make money... I have had multiple accounts for a while, logging in from the same IP.

After a couple of weeks they limited my accounts. They didn't give a reason. I had to sent proof of ID and some other legal documents. After a week they 'unlocked' my accounts.

Do you log in to them from the same IP, etc?

I've logged into my locked account from over a year ago, and use a new one under my hyphenated name for several months now. Apparently paypal isn't quite that thorough after they lock your account. Which is funny because trying to re-enter info such as a social security number or credit card tied to an old locked account from say 5 years ago, won't trigger an alert, but when you're on a business trip in Thailand it'll lock your account just for logging in outside of the country.

Yeah they may lock your accounts at some point but as long as you can send them documentation and prove they are all legit businesses, etc. they will let you have as many accounts as you want. Been there done that.

Holy shit get off your ass and get your own merchant account. Paypal rips you off AND gives shitty customer service.

Depending on who you work with, some people may feel more 'secure' paying via paypal, than giving you a credit card number directly into your own merchant account. Kinda like while many hosting providers do have a merchant account to take a payment directly, most now offer paypal, and some even google checkout.
