Just had to say that I wasn't sure if I was going to let this thing replace my massive library of books. But I'm a believer now. Downloading books from the internet and uploading them to my Kindle, is really addicting, and easy. You can format almost any PDF to your kindle you get from a torrent. And just buy a good case with a light from amazon, and you can read it anywhere. I was hesitant about reading off a computer screen, but the thing honestly replaced my library of books.

So basically if you don't have an ereader or a Kindle, get one. That is all.

I can see the appeal but some people prefer real physical objects they can hold, don't disappear when power does and don't stress your eyes if you feel like reading a 600 page book in one sitting.

I bought an ebook reader a while back (not a kindle, so i could use my own pdfs) and i never use it. REAL books FTW.

Anyways, by the time a kindle turns on, I'm done taking a shit... and toilet paper makes a better bookmark than fumbling through menus.

wheres the affiliate links? Just kidding. Do you know if you can view pdfs & other types of files with the kindle. I have some "books" that are in pdfs and I thought it might be handy for that. Or do they limit it to just Amazon content

you defintely can, you have to email the books to your account and just put the word "convert" in the title, you can download 500 books from torrent, and upload them all to your kindle in minutes.

to the rest, i thought the same thing, that physical books would never be replaced by kindle, but I like, i still pick up a hard book from time to time, but i love "free" books.

Thats cool I figured it was just locked down. A friend of mine just got an ereader ( i think it was the Nook ill double check) and he said they have it cracked wide open and its like half the price. He was showing me some of the cool stuff he could do with it like converting it to a remote control for his tv.

edit.... The Nook Color was the one thats cracked

I've had my kindle for a year and a half.

It's nice because you can so much with the book.. i like to increase the font size because my eyes are pretty bad and I hate wearing my glasses all the time. I turn it sideways 'landscape' and read that way most of the time.
It will also read some books to you.. ;)

This used to be my attitude but honestly fuck physical books. Paperbacks are fine but when you've got a 1000 page hardback it gets very tiresome and annoying to read after 10 minutes. Should have ordered a kindle a long time ago. You can read that thing for hours and with pretty much any book you want being available for free downloadz off tha interwebz it's just insane how much value you'll get out of it.

Hmm, you know absolutely nothing about a Kindle. A kindle turns on in about 1-2 seconds and if fully powered off about 3-4 seconds. You don't need to bookmark shit, or fumble with any menus. You just turn it off or swap books or whatever, it always remembers exactly where you are in what books...

no good for reading for any long period of time, too glary.

the kindle screen is amazing, when I first saw it I thought some paper was stuck to the screen, it's pretty crazy.

You know that. OP messed up by saying looking at a computer screen. Reading a kindle is nothing like reading a computer. (I know he knows this, but others won't!)

It's like reading a book. In fact it's actually better than reading a book. You don't have to hold it open, it smaller, more convenient, arguably lighter and asides from general reading, it allows you to read pdfs in a glare free manner. (For whoever it was who said about battery life - it's 1 month...)

Anyone who says buy an iPad instead, doesn't know what they're talking about. It's like saying buy a laptop when someone's talking about getting a new phone... The 2 don't compare. An iPad is like a reading a computer screen and the Kindle is like reading a book. I'm a fully fledged fan. It IS my favourite gadget by a country mile. I love it.

The kindle has the closest screen I have ever seen to an actual book.

To be honest, without it I'd probably never read anything.

Be careful though they are really really delicate, like glass. I dropped the Sony reader just a few feet, in a leather case and the screen shattered.

i don't care. fuck your gay kindle shit. i like real books.

Thing about the Kindle is that it's like a real book, it has no backlight or anything. I bought my rents one but they never use it cause my pops got a galaxy tab. SHOULD I BE AN INDIAN GIVER??? lol

Hmmm, fine review. I just spent money on a book yesterday about HTML, XHTML and CSS because it's so much easier for me to learn from a book than a screen. Also there's 0 chance I'll head to namecheap, WF, ect. Whereas while reading on a site, if something comes to mind I'll probablly track it right down.

But maybe i should test drive a Kindle.

PM me your aff Link .

The Kindle is one of the coolest things I ever bought. It's very easy to read. The technology is called "electronic ink," and yeah, it uses real ink particles which are drawn to the screen electronically.

Hardly any glare. Here's a comparison of a Kindle vs. a Backlit LCD screen

Battery life lasts a month.
