900th post, I was planning on doing something insightful with it, but I'm swamped so I'll wait until 1k. For now, this is pretty sweet if you don't already know about it.

I have a Galaxy Tab 2 7.0, running ICS and an Iphone for my phone, I'd been drooling over this for awhile.

While procrastinating today I decided to try the alpha Jellybean ROM primarily for Google Now. The ROM sucked, buggy as hell, practically useless. BUT, if you're rooted (takes 10 minutes) and you can run ICS you can get a fully functional version of Google Now running, and it's impressive.

It took me about 15 minutes to root my tablet and 10 or so to get this working. It was easy and it was the first time I've rooted anything.

The biggest time suck for me was flashing the alpha Jellybean ROM and then reverting back to ICS because it sucked.

1. You need a rooted device with Clockworkmod. Google for your device, there's too many ROM's, etc, for me to give detailed instructions.

2. Check this link, xda-developers - View Single Post - [MOD] [4.0+] [UPDATE 08/08] The Google Now for ICS Project [APK AND ZIP] [ARMv6&v7]. I installed the M6 version from recovery mode. I've read it's easier to just load the .apk, but the way I did it took less than 10 minutes, and most of that was waiting for the download.

It's fully functional, I had no problems. Voice works, the results are awesome. I'd rather have it on a phone but it's still cool on a tablet. It's much better than Siri. I'll be buying an Android phone as soon as Jellybean is rolled out, primarily because of this. It does a ton of stuff. Directions, reminders, scheduling, etc etc.

If you can run ICS, chances are good you can get this working on your device. Totally worth it. Only takes a few minutes.

I laid out my schedule for tomorrow in about 5 minutes. A lot of ways you can be productive with it. And no need to wait for Jellybean or an IOS update to get it.

Wow its just like if I had typed something in google and got the answer, but I wouldn't need to type anything!

Yeah, that was my gut reaction too. But it's a lot deeper than search. If you have an appointment, and traffic is heavy, it'll send you notifications in advance telling you to leave early.

If a flight's delayed, it can let you know before you leave for the airport.

I've only had about an hour of messing with it. It may be a novelty, but I can see myself using it for a lot of things. I like how it syncs with tasks/calendar/etc.

I see it being a time saver and helping with productivity. I'm pretty hard to impress with technology. I thought Siri was a stupid gimmick. I think I'll be using this daily.

Anyway, just putting it out there. I'm guessing a lot of people don't know it's available outside of Jellybean.
