I have some interwebz friends on a sports forum. I am looking to start a blog on the team we follow. These friends have photoshop skills, article writing skills and nunchuck skills. How do I get them to work for free without giving them keys to the site or future profits?

Have someone start posting things on the blog and forums that you know will piss them off.

Tell them you'll start paying them a small % when the site starts bringing in enough to cover costs. Never let them know when the site gets to that point.

Or just hook them up with free hosting or something in exchange for their work.

Make them moderators. As a former forum owner myself I can tell you people eat that shit up. They'll damn near suck you off for it. Power is a helluva drug.

Then after they start working do as I did my mods (and suggested above) and send them free gifts on holidays and special occasions to make them feel appreciated. Amazon gift certificates are easy, cheap, and quick.

Dude, go into it with your mind set on what percentage or dollar amount that you need to get out of it.

Pay your friends what you're willing to pay them to keep them motivated and to keep them friends.

I would go with setting a percentage off something that can directly be measured as their work.

They work hard, you split the profits with them. If they don't, you don't have to worry about it, but you still get some work done and they're still your friend.

I personally have 1 friend, his friend and my dad working for me. I pay each one 50% of the gross, because I can trust them not to fuck me and they love the money they make so it keeps them motivated. I send daily reports to them with their stats, mostly just copied and pasted off my stats programs.

Prolly they have no idea how lucrative it is so just see if they wanna do it without mentioning money. If it works out send them gifts and shit.
