Getting the Crew of professionals

Hey everyone..

I have a lot of great ideas, great marketing and design skills, but i have a problem getting programmer, link builder, partners,.. I mostly search on Scriptlance but it's not good, either the guy can't speak english, can't code well or he has issues with porn or anything related(muslim sucks). Those people also expect a payment which I don't understand why because i work for free too a lot until there's no revenue.. And ideas and plans are really top-notch, something different and out-of-the-box, millions-generating..

What do you people suggest?

well yeah rentacoder and elance is same like scriptlance, people expect payment not partnership.. this is real cool your 3rd choice but i have no idea where to find those students & nerds, my guess is on forums, but that would be hard..

btw "fewleftstanding", it's little hard to learn advanced php, mysql skills and it could take more years

hey, i can give you hand on the programming side for a percentage of your ideas.. we would have to work out a way that niether of us get screwed though..

Step One: Make a flyer in word or whatever, stating you need for a coder / partner / hamster Be sure to include your mail adress in easy to rip off snippets (bandanas? strips?).

Step two: print the page X times

Step three: Cut the snippets so they are easy to rip off and take away.

Step four: Walk to local college / high school / supermarket

Step five: attach your flyer to lamp post / bulletin boards, etc..

Well people on sites like Scriptlance are there to make money, not do a project for someone they don't even know for free... and then hope it will pay off. So it's going to be hard to find one there. Plus, I'm sure they will want to hear the idea before they agree to anything and I don't know about you, but I'm not about to go around giving my ideas to random Indian coders who I know nothing about.

I'm pretty much in the same boat as you. What I'm doing is making some easy money doing ppc to affiliate stuff and using a lot of free scripts to enhance my campaigns/ landing pages. In the mean time, I'm learning php and it's really not that difficult to learn. For any idea that is 100% gonna kick ass and needs to be done RIGHT NOW, I hire a freelancer.

Amen. If it's really that great of an idea, then just pay the money and outsource. It will be worth it in the end because you still have all the creative control.
 
Honestly, your best bet is probably to scour your local craigslist for coders. Find high school geeks, college geeks, or part-time coders trying to get some more experience. I knew a guy who was a house-painter, but in his spare time he'd write ASP code that was totally self-taught and really good. . . He wanted to get in the biz but he had to pay bills for the time being, but someone like that would be ideal for 2-3 hrs a day of coding.

Yeah that's right, but i have a project which is really advanced and there's a lot of time needed for fucking with cms and their system and it could be more than $10.000 where I could pay only $500..

It's true, those indians are really not reliable so giving them idea and waiting them to disappear is not very smart.. I will follow the tip above and find a php&mysql nerd to do dirty work for me but not in real world but on some php hardcore forum.. i hope i'll find someone

Thats great words, i fully agree. And that is how things should happen.
I`m avg experienced in programming (php,mysql, +web technologies) but i`m not gonna work for free at all. I will team someone who will share all the things he know - in other cause you are just a kind of parasite who only gets and doesn`t give anything.
 
I had a similar project where I had someone customize a CMS and a bunch of modules that went with it to create a set of tools geared toward a specific industry. I used getafreelancer to find someone to do the job. He completed 80% of it then flaked. I then found someone who was a part of developing the CMS and he finished the work. He charged about $50 an hour, but he knew the thing inside out, so he flew through the customizations. And they were pretty advanced changes. I know enough php to do the easy stuff myself.

You just need to find someone that really knows what their doing and doesn't fuck around.

But in the end, the ideal way to do it would be to put in a lot of work trying to find someone to partner up with. Find someone who can code his ass off but has no interest in marketing or making money.
